POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Line Technician will inspect each truck to ensure it operates. Will be responsible for test driving trucks to make sure all functions are working correctly. They will thoroughly examine each spec book to make sure all customers’ expectations are met. The Quality Line Technician will assist in other areas as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Inspects each truck to ensure it operates.
2. Thoroughly examines each spec book to make sure all customer expectations are met.
3. Thoroughly photograph the interior and exterior of each truck.
4. Make sure build books are filled out correctly.
5. Test drive trucks and have them weighed at scale.
6. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Class B CDL, or ability to get one.

Preferred Education:

• None.

Required Experience:

• Knowledge of all fire truck systems and functions.

Preferred Experience:

• Knowledge of Rosenbauer Chassis manufacturing processes.

Language Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Experience such as typing an email, basic Excel, Word.

• Prior experience with a computer terminal and/or PC.

• Responsibilities are guided by a general set of policies or objectives.
• There is considerable freedom to make decisions within these policies or objectives.
• Work is periodically reviewed to determine if objectives have been met.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. In some cases, the temperature can be warmer or colder depending on the season, and the temperature can vary with the shop doors being opened during the winter season. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing, walking, and the use of hands for the entire shift. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, legs, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time. This position requires reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling sometimes. The use of knees, back, shoulders, and arms can range from 15 to 60 minutes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
