Description: Roseville Area Schools has a vacancy for a Nutrition Specialist. Position is 8.0 hours/day, 5 days/week, 12 months.

Application Timeline: This Notice of Vacancy will be posted until June 10, 2024.

COMPENSATION: Salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 dependent on education and experience, plus a district contribution towards insurance and other benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Menus (30%)

Menu entry and publishing in Titan

Assist in developing and updating Breakfast, Lunch, Child and Adult Care Feeding Program (Super Snack), Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and Meals on Wheels menus to ensure accurate food production and service

Run cost analyses of menus

Manage nutritional analysis to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while meeting high standards of nutrition and wellness

Procurement (25%)

Farm to School product sourcing working through multiple vendors and direct purchasing through farmers and ranchers

Works with prime vendor’s order entry system to create order guides, pre-book products as needed

Approves orders through prime vendor and/or Titan

Approves outs/substitutes from prime vendor bi-weekly

Works with administrative assistant on small equipment orders 

Orders USDA commodity food for central storage based on inventory in stock with prime vendor; coordination of ordering and delivery to schools weekly/biweekly; inventory of commodity food at RAMS

Responsible for organizing catering and special function events including but not limited to: creating quotes, purchasing food and supplies, and creating of special function spreadsheet/Invoice for Accounts Payable to send to payees.

Monitors use of NOI products through monthly tracking on K12 Foodservice and Processor Link; monitors draw down of USDA commodities on CLiCs

Coordinates with the district route driver on all food deliveries or transfers to contract catered sites and all school buildings. Keeps records of all transfers of food or supplies and documents on monthly journal entry for district accountant’s review.

Monitors inventory levels

CLiCs entry- Monthly Claims for Reimbursement (5%)

Compile, prepare, and file the Food and Nutrition Services Claim for Reimbursement.

Verify that the claims and projected revenue are correct and the same information. Contact MDE if needed.

Titan (30%)

Oversee the Point of Sale software

Reconcile and input daily deposits from each school; follow up on any discrepancies.

Complete an Edit Check for all sites to determine if we had more attendance than Free, Reduced and Paid status students. If so, investigate and justify.

Generate meal PIN numbers and inform students and staff, site administrative assistants, and cashiers of the number. Verify that the PIN rings in at correct amounts. Send site administrative assistants/cashiers new PIN lists as needed to keep information current.

Write tickets for Titan issues; call and follow up on the tickets in a timely manner. Work closely with Titan staff to coordinate any necessary solutions.

Resolve parent issues in Titan; handle parent complaints and questions regarding meal balances and accounting issues. Communicate with the appropriate staff person as needed and follow through with anything that may need to be done.

Coordinate refund of meal accounts

Collect low and negative balances by sending out texts, letters (quarterly) and phone calls. Communicate with principals, social workers and dean of students in an effort to try and collect funds due 

Upload the Direct Certification file from MDE and load into letter format to notify families of their new eligibility. Verify that the student’s eligibility is correct and processed accurately into Synergy.

Reviews site level production records monthly for completeness and accuracy. Works with head cooks at the sites for any corrective action.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: At least two (2) years of child nutrition/school food service experience preferred. Associate’s or Bachelor's degree from college or university in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Administration/Business or equivalent degree preferred.
