POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Tech Specialist

PERFORMANCE

PROFILE SOURCE: Youth Development Professional

DEPARTMENT: Programs

REPORTS TO: Program Director, Unit Director

MUST BE AVAILABLE between 2:00 pm and 6:30pm. We are currently seeking someone for Mondays through Friday with the potential for more hours.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Tech Specialist has delegated responsibility from the Unit Director or Program Director for implementing programs and activities. The programs and activities will involve children within a specific area, such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Health & Life Skills, Arts and Crafts, and Physical Education. These programs will focus on youth development by providing a sense of competence, a sense of usefulness, a sense of belonging, and a sense of power and ownership.

The Tech Specialist will maintain an open line of communication with club staff, volunteers and supervisors regarding program concerns or progress, and issues pertaining to youth.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Prepare Youth for Success

  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes, Promote and stimulate program participation. Register new members and participate in club orientation process
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to all members
  • Provide members with instruction, encouragement, and constructive feedback on their progress
  • Establish a program setting that insures the health and safety of members
  • Educate members on how to understand and follow the standards and positive interaction in the club
  • Keep all work areas neat and clean
  • Seek help and assistance with children from other professional staff as needed

Program Development and Implementation

  • Strong technology skills include Microsoft Office applications, desktop publishing/graphic design, digital photography, Internet research and basic troubleshooting. Prior experience with creating and/or implementing technology programs such as STEM, robotics, or coding
  • Post and follow a weekly lesson plan
  • Implementation of National Boys & Girls Club Programs
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure safety of members and quality in programs and appearance of the Clubhouse. Prepare activity reports.
  • Participate in Youth Development Trainings
  • Lifting in excess of 45lbs will be required at times.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct and advise/counsel.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

High School diploma or GED

  • Experience in working with youth
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Ability to motivate and manage youth behavior problems
  • Ability to deal with the public
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth and basic knowledge with technology
  • Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment
  • Ability to multitask
  • Must be responsible and reliable
  • This opportunity will commence as soon as possible and will continue until June 2025, with potential summer opportunities available.
