Located in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont, Rowan County is attractively and conveniently nestled between the state’s largest city and its Capitol. The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Social Worker III-Part Time. This position is dedicated to the intake function in Adult and Child Protective Services and is responsible for conducting initial screening of these reports to determine the appropriate response according to law and policy. This position also provides crisis intervention and referrals to community resources. Hours will not exceed 999 hours per calendar year.

This position will receive and process reports of abuse, neglect, and dependency for child protective services (CPS) and abuse, neglect, and exploitation for adult protective services (APS); interview callers and thoroughly document CPS and APS reports in order to gather enough specific information to identify and locate the alleged victim, the alleged perpetrator, a description of the alleged abuse, neglect, or exploitation, and to determine if immediate assistance to the alleged victim is required; process, disseminate, and maintain CPS and APS records as necessary; provide information and refer callers to other services and agencies for assistance; maintain confidentiality of all client information; participate in team meetings and trainings; and stay up to date on changes in laws, regulations, and policies related to adult protective services and child protective services.

Requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and one year of human services work experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning; or a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field and two years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Adult Services experience preferred. MS Office experience is preferred. All degrees/coursework must be from an appropriately accredited institution. Starting Rate $27.27 per hour (commensurate with experience)
