Position Summary: This person will be responsible for assisting the After School Program Coordinator and Head of School in the general supervision and management of a class of children in accordance with the school’s educational philosophy to develop the “whole” child, meeting their educational, spiritual, social, physical and emotional needs within a nurturing Christian environment.

Accountability: The Assistant Teacher reports to the Preschool Director or Head of School as necessary and works under the supervision of the After School Program Coordinator when needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementing and executing RCS programs for classes in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school, and adhere to the standards in the Staff Handbook.

• Assist the After School Program Coordinator in planning and executing lessons

• Cover classes as needed

• Light office duties including answering the phone and taking messages, monitoring the door, making copies, assisting students and staff as needed and other office tasks assigned by the Head of School or Preschool Director

• Assist in maintaining the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom and of the school. The image and appearance of RCS classrooms and facilities is very important.

• Assist in lunch/recess duties daily

• Assist in keeping educational materials current, organized and in good order.

• Keep classrooms, storage rooms, and bathrooms clean, safe, neat and orderly.

• Prepare snacks and assist children in snack time.

• Help in executing school activities and procedures.

• Attend and assist in school activities (when applicable)

• Assist in getting school ready for opening operations and closing up school for summer break.

• Help maintain student records and keep daily attendance records using Student Information/Notification Systems

• Assist with afternoon fire and or safety drills (when applicable)

• Assist the Head of School, Preschool Director and After School Program Coordinator on children’s adjustment and classroom behavior, providing input on children and assisting with ongoing evaluation procedures as needed to assess the developmental levels of the children.

• Help plan and implement methods to establish a positive rapport and relationship with parents, responding promptly when asked to the needs of parents as they arise.

• Assist the Preschool team and After School Program Coordinator in explaining the program to prospective families

Qualifications:

• Experience working with young children. The person must have a love for children, and a warm and friendly personality. The person should be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, and be able to relate well to both children and adults.

• Must have up-to-date PA FBI clearances, PA criminal record clearances and PA child abuse clearances

• Up-to-date physical and TB results (within one year of date of hire)

Physical Capabilities:

• Be able to lift 30 lbs.

• Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on the floor, see, hear, and speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
