$500 Sign On Bonus paid after 90 days.Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Job Site Foreman, this position is primarily responsible for safely operating construction equipment (bulldozers, backhoes, trench excavators, skid steers, etc.) that moves heavy materials, excavates gravel and earth, drives piles into the ground, or spreads and levels asphalt, concrete, and other paving material. The incumbent will be required to fill in as needed with other jobs at work site during down times (IE. Laborer). Typical schedules are Monday Friday, with weekends required as needed. Incumbent is expected to have excellent attendance and communication skills, possess the ability to build lasting business relationships, and exhibit professionalism. Essential Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesThis is a description of the major responsibilities of this position. These job duties are subject to change according to job requirements. Perform and report on, daily safety and maintenance checks
Work with and assist the crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a backhoe, excavator, or front-end loader
Place, remove or maintain underground utilities as directed. This includes but is not limited to: carrying pipe, bags of material, and other heavy items, jack hammering, shoveling, tamping, and installing pipe, duct, or cable
Operate equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies
Assist in restoring worksite at completion of daily work
Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures
Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers
Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner. Collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials, and refuse
Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation
Notify the General Superintendent/ Supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)
Work under multiple time constraints
Navigate driveways, alleyways, lots, high traffic roadways and may operate in tight overhead environments while on industrial routes
Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job
Education And Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Previous experience in civil utilities preferred
Previous experience driving heavy equipment in a construction environment:
Equipment Operator I: One to two years experience
Equipment Operator II: Two to five years experience
Equipment Operator III: Over five years experience
Physical Demands
Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 pounds
Exposure to an environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements throughout the workday
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance of duty on secured locations. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of an offer.
