Position SummaryThe function of the Lead, Global Marine Strategy & Analytics is to proactively research and identify opportunities to improve business results and increase performance in the Global Marine Operation (GMO). To lead the initiatives of research and analysis to identify opportunities to improve business results and increase performance across the marine organization. This position is the key to providing synergy between branded marine operations, marine technical teams and our newbuild, supply chain and corporate partners. The Lead works closely with executive leadership to prepare comprehensive positioning, strategy and planning documents including white papers and presentations to drive profitable development, opportunity and expansion. Works alongside leadership based in Operations to monitor and deliver performance. provide analytical advises and strong support to the brands and Global Marine Operations. The role is to give project management assistance, especially for dry-docks, supporting the project management in their work through issue identification, analysis and communications. Support the GMO in delivering its reports required by the Marine Operations Program Management Office (PMO) and to streamline existing reports or create new ones as needed. Consult with internal clients in various departments (shoreside and shipboard) and with external partners (shipyards, suppliers, technical design consultancies) to independently gather, analyze and report data for recommended courses of action. Projects assigned are typically top priority, high profile, and multi-departmental initiatives for the organization and this require continuous communication and interaction with the project management. Technical and design teams, shipyards, other internal and external partners. Manage all aspects of project planning, tracking and status reporting.
Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leads in the development of multi-year strategies focused on profitable growth.
  • Draw conclusions from research, brand performance, financial opportunity and modeling.
  • Provide analytical support to enhance business, improve efficiencies, technical reliability or increase asset life.
  • Prepares the strategic plan and operating plan for the Global Marine Organization.
  • Lead special projects and specially formed teams to represent or support the overall operations team.
  • Prepares executive / board level presentations.
  • Monitors market performance to develop action plans to meet company needs.
  • Works alongside other departments in the organization, to drive operational improvement and strategic implementation.
  • Facilitate meetings and problem solve with groups while dealing with variety of variables in situations where no standardization exists.
  • Identifies opportunity in various functional areas through continuous reporting and relationship strengthening.
  • Provides synergies between the GMO , branded marine operations and partnering departments in several tasks.
  • Collaborates with the project team to elevate the dry dock support utilizing PMO project associates to execute difficult projects.
  • Leverage GMO economies of scale to achieve synergies in multiple fields of opportunity.
  • Constructs tasks, reports and continuous improvement initiatives that grow the opportunities for the Global Marine organization’s effectiveness and reliability.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Financial Responsibilities
  • Responsible for working with the finance teams to create and manage overall marine capital project budgets.
  • Responsible for working with the finance team to create and manage overall marine expense budgets.
  • Strategizes with financial analyst on economic feasibility analysis for project options, alternatives, and life cycle costs.
  • Liaises with Program/Project Managers and financial support to ensure accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts, reporting and payments.
  • Responsible for defining optimization opportunities to manage expenses.
________________________________________ Qualifications
  • BA or BS degree in hospitality, finance, Engineering or analytical related subject, Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience as a Business Manager/ Senior Analyst in the travel and leisure industry is preferable.
  • The incumbent must have strong business acumen, mathematical and logical reasoning and thinking that does not conform to the norm.
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, and other complex financial models and concepts.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Essbase, and complex mathematical formulas, Brio, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Prior experience of leading teams in a similar planning / analysis function.
  • Travel industry knowledge/experience highly desirable.
  • Critical thinker, who demonstrates drive and a desire to improve processes where appropriate.
  • Commercially focused on profitability and growth.
  • Pro-active and consultative approach.
  • Able to build good working relationships with personnel at all levels located at the corporate offices and global offices.
  • Experience of using a modern MIS system (such as Essbase).
  • PC/financial modeling skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience of using database query tools (such as Brio).
  • Strong business writing skills.
  • Must be able to present a fact-based impartial view in a situation to help find a root cause and aid in problem solving.
  • Knowledgeable of macro-economic conditions and world trends and their impact on the cruise business.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of these to effect change within and to maximize the opportunities while finding efficiencies to increase revenue.
  • Act as a consultant for peers to increase their knowledge and logical reasoning as it relates to company strategic mission.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of co-workers and influence.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Takes initiative and is flexible to change.
