Job Title : Program Associate, Product Safety & Well-Being

Status : Full-Time/ Direct-Hire

Hybrid Model : Three days per week onsite

Office Location : Washington, D.C.

PROGRAM ASSOCIATE

Work for one of the oldest not-for-profits in the US dedicated solely to advancing and improving education. This position will also provide support to the organization’s programs in diversity, inclusion, and social justice in education research.

The Program :

We seek to build capacity and enhance research skills among students, early career scholars, senior scholars, and others who produce education research and build capacity for it. Core to the program are initiatives dedicated to professional development and training. These include the longstanding Grants Program (supported by the National Science Foundation), the Minority Dissertation Fellowship, Undergraduate Student Education Research Training Workshop, as well as institutes that provide research training in specific areas. The Program also offers a broad range of substantive and methodological courses in education research primarily at the Association’s Annual Meeting and through the online Virtual Research Learning Center.

The Position :

We seek to hire a Program Associate to provide administrative support, research management, and project coordination to advance Professional Development programs and initiatives. This position will also provide support to the organization’s programs in diversity, inclusion, and social justice in education research.

The Program Associate’s duties involve working independently, with guidance and collaboratively, to support the organization’s professional development courses, fellowship and grants programs, initiatives, and projects; providing support for coordinating in-person and virtual meetings and special events; conducting research, including literature searches and reviews, analyzing data, and preparing brief written reports on topics related to program initiatives and activities. The program associate coordinates and serves as liaison for virtual events and webinars including development of electronic promotional materials, email recruitment, and responding to questions. These duties also include developing and maintaining electronic and print records and resources for multiple projects, interacting with members and the education research community to support the organization’s programs, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications :

Organization, Communication, and Research Skills

  • Self-starter who is proactive, creative, and resourceful in handling routine assignments and emergent challenges effectively.
  • Strong research, critical thinking, and analytic skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of education research methods and content, or other research areas across the behavioral and social sciences.
  • Exceptional organizing and problem-solving skills; sound judgement.
  • Experience working independently and as a supportive team member on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring timely completion.
  • Excellent communication (listening, speaking, and writing) and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and completing complex projects in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong professional outreach skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, university faculty, non-profit leaders, and other professionals at all levels.

Technical Skills :

  • Strong computer and technical skills including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and database packages (i.e., Stata, SPSS).
  • Experience coordinating virtual meetings and webinars with Zoom.
  • Experience and facility working with online platforms and portals (i.e., Logiforms, Survey Monkey).
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.

Other Skills and Requirements :

  • We currently operate on a hybrid schedule with designated 3-5 days per week in the organization’s Washington, DC office and other days remote. This schedule is subject to change.
  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally and to work outside of business hours (in-person and remotely) when necessary, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing work priorities.
  • Master’s degree with research and writing requirements in the social or behavioral sciences; five or more years of related work experience desired.
