ContractJob DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Billing Specialist to manage the processing, auditing, and reviewing of outside counsel invoices. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent decision-making abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- 5 years in legal billing or relevant e-billing experience.
- Experience in a law firm or professional services organization.
- Understanding of end-to-end invoice lifecycle.
- Proficiency with SAP or Oracle.
- Experience with vendor onboarding (e.g., Ariba, Graphite).
- Advanced skills in Excel & MS Office.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Review and route large volumes of invoices for approval per billing guidelines.
- Approve, adjust, or reject invoices and assist attorneys with inquiries.
- Manage portfolio to minimize invoice aging and reconcile aging reports monthly.
- Liaise with outside counsel, in-house attorneys, and AP departments for timely payment releases.
- Ensure compliance with internal billing guidelines and collect monthly accruals from outside counsel.
- Investigate unresolved items within SAP and propose process improvements.
- Participate in cross-training and team meetings to address potential issues.
- Collaborate on law firm onboarding and contribute to special projects as needed.
- Research and troubleshoot issues with law firms.
- Support vendor setup processes and train end users.
- Maintain work-in-progress records and monitor time entry deadlines.
