Job Overview:  

Responsible for prioritizing, planning and overseeing the completion of production orders to satisfy demand requirements on time and on budget. Manages day to day activities ensuring safe production of quality products. The Production Manager will operate out of the manufacturing facility

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks:

• Direct Production Supervisors on day-to-day production activities ensuring completion of manufacturing activities as scheduled and within budget.
• Engage and collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to improve manufacturing process and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and increased efficiency by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment as needed.
• Manage manufacturing work instructions and SOP’s ensuring they are accurate to the process being performed.
• Manage workforce and advise on resource needs for all work cells and collaborate with Supervisors to forecast labor needs.
• Ensure in process quality standards are being met; random daily inspection of workmanship offering coaching and training when needed.
• Monitor accuracy of time reporting and correcting as needed.
• Ensure and manage all production order documents are accurate and complete.
• Collaborate with Supervisors setting daily output standards in accordance with determined labor route and measuring achievements.
• Manage Production Supervisors and oversee floor team members by providing guidance, training, and corrective action as necessary
• Ensure documented training is completed as required and is up to date.
• Seek to improve existing standards and procedures to support continuous improvement within the department 
• Collaborate with Facilities & Maintenance Manager to ensure equipment and tools are in safe and operating status and issues are addressed and corrected in a timely manner.
• Review production schedule and ensure level loading is appropriate, engage with Production Planning on rescheduling as needed. 
• Collaborate with SCM and production team members on material needs validating requests and engaging SCM when opportunities for improvement arise. 
• Support and maintain a culture of safety by leading safety initiatives in conjunction with the Environmental Health and Safety Team. 
• Manage WIP inventory locations, accuracy, and accounting.
• Maintain a culture of safety and 7S Workplace organization compliance.

Work Environment:
This position will be working primarily in Manufacturing. Workstation may be located on the Production Floor with a significant amount of time walking the internal building and external grounds. Environment is fast paced with ever changing priorities. Environment is one of innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

• 5 years working experience in Manufacturing environment
• Must have good understanding of manufacturing procedures and practices
• Experience with lean manufacturing
• Electrical experience is a plus
• Understanding of labor budgets, KPI’s, and efficiency reporting
• Excellent communication skills with ability to coach and mentor
• Microsoft AX 2012 experience is a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Continuously stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
• Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms at waist level and below the waist; and work in limited space.
