Job Overview:
As a Gas Fireplace Technician Apprentice, you will assist experienced technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas fireplace units. This position offers hands-on training and experience in the specialized field of gas fireplace technology along with general fireplace installation/repair. You will learn to troubleshoot issues, ensure safety compliance, and provide exceptional customer service. This role is ideal for individuals with a keen interest in mechanical systems, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.**

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the installation of chimney liners and wood-burning appliances following industry standards and local codes
  • Assist in the installation of chimney liners, wood and gas-burning appliances according to manufacturer specifications and local building codes
  • Assist in performing routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning burners, checking gas connections, and replacing worn-out parts
  • Assist in masonry and exterior repairs under the guidance of experienced technicians
  • Shadow experienced technicians during service calls to residential and commercial properties, observing proper procedures for troubleshooting and repair
  • Participate in job briefings and debriefings and follow instructions from senior technicians
  • Help maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to company policies and safety regulations
  • Learn to communicate effectively with customers, explaining the nature of the problem, proposed solutions, and associated costs in a clear and courteous manner
  • Load and transport materials and tools to and from the work site, ensuring that all equipment is maintained and in good working order
  • Assist in keeping accurate records of installations, repairs, service calls, maintenance tasks, and parts inventory
  • Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities provided by the company to enhance skills and knowledge in chimney repairs and installations
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation, and valid driver's license and clean driving record with at least 6 months driving experience
  • Physical ability to lift equipment and materials up to 60 pounds, and work comfortably at heights and in confined spaces
  • Interest in learning about chimney installation techniques and safety practices
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully
  • Willingness to work in various indoor and outdoor environments under different weather conditions
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions carefully
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a related field such as HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical maintenance
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Not afraid of heights or confined spaces
Training and Development:
As an apprentice, you will receive comprehensive training combining on-the-job experience with formal training. You will work alongside experienced technicians who will guide your development in all areas necessary to become a skilled Chimney Repair Gas Technician.
