What are we looking for in our Senior Electrician?
Job Title: Senior Plant Electrician Location:Danbury, CT 06810Pay Rate: 75,000-100,000 ANNUALLYJob Type: FULL TIME HIREShift: 7am-4pm M-F.Job DescriptionUnder minimal to no supervision, Designs, Selects Components, Installs and maintains production instrumentation, electrical wiring, production control equipment, and related auxiliary systems.
Monitors production equipment and systems to determine operational status and troubleshoot system malfunctions.
Provide support to Engineering and Operations to help design, build, test and troubleshoot production equipment and manufacturing systems.
Ability to repair and modify production equipment at the component level.
Specify and order spare parts, for existing equipment, and systems as needed.
Proficient at analyzing and troubleshooting complex electrical and control systems such as ATS, PLC’s, Communication Networks, Motor Starters, VFD’s and various electromechanical systems.
Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Test, repair, maintain, and modify existing and new equipment, including electronic, vacuum, mechanical, and chemical apparatus.
May design, select, build, and program control equipment for specific project requirements or process improvements either independently or in collaboration with Engineering or third-party contractors.
Knowledge of the mechanical and electrical operation of equipment such as pumps, boilers, heaters, and other plumbing components
Strong knowledge in consensus codes such as NEC500, NFPA70 and proficient at applying this to evaluate current systems or proposed new designs.
Adjust and/or calibrate components, production equipment, and control systems to improve overall efficiency and record all changes and their effect. Proficient with calibration tools such as process multimeters, calibrated gages and vendor supplied calibration software.
Able to use electrical schematic drawings for PLC’s and power distribution for troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning. Experience with generating redline or “as built” modifications for use by engineering or OEM to update designs.
Develop prototypes for project requirements and/or process improvements.
Install factory wiring in both classified (C1 D2) and general duty areas.
May set up standard test apparatus to conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies; orders materials as needed.
May operate machine tools to fabricate parts such as threading machines, drills, conduit benders.
Maintains current knowledge relevant to state-of-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
Attend Engineering meetings for updates, priority list and future equipment planning/instillations.
Ensures proper care, safety and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Complies with all BRI environmental and safety policies and procedures. Experience and familiarity with Lock Out / Tagout procedures as well as Hot Work
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Work with supervision, reliability engineer to maintain proper critical spare parts for electrical distribution and PLC systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to record and/or log equipment operational status.
Ability to identify and resolve system malfunctions and operational problems.
Ability to utilize, test, maintain and modify a range of engineering equipment and apparatus.
Ability to build and evaluate engineering and/or scientific systems and components.
A working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70 codes for general facility wiring.
The ability to install electrical conduit and proper wire sizing.
The ability to install general factory components such as plugs, switches, lights etc.
Knowledge of hazardous location requirements is a plus.
Knowledge of HVAC systems maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
Ability to read and follow technical instructions and manuals. Ability to write reports containing technical information.
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
Experience and Education:High School Diploma or GED; at least 10 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
An E2 electrical license is not required but is strongly desirable.
A directly related higher degree from an accredited institution or technical certification in Instrumentation and/or Controls Systems may be substituted for experience.
WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Work involves potential exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, smoke, toxic chemicals, hazardous material and wastes, fumes, unpleasant odors, and physical risks, including loud noises, which require following safety precautions and training.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, pulling of objects up to seven hundred pounds using physical and mechanical means.
