Job Overview: The Blood Bank Supervisor manages the technical and organizational operational aspects of the blood bank department section for efficient, cost effective and timely production of medical diagnostic test results and availability of patient blood products, Assumes responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem solving, teaching and staff supervision, Produces medical diagnostic test results in an efficient and cost effective manner for stat and routine specimens.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • BS/BA Degree in Laboratory Science or other Science Degree -Chemistry, Biology, etc,
  • MT ASCP certified or other recognized professional accreditation association, qualified under Laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 42CFR 493,1427; or MT HHS certified or other recognized professional accreditation association qualified under Laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 42 CTR 493, 1427

Preferred:

  • Six years working experience including one to three years supervisor experience preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time
  • Day Shift

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs instruments and laboratory equipment if possible,
  • Maintains all necessary quality control, quality assurance and department repair records as required by accreditation agencies,
  • Verifies licensed practitioner orders,
  • Assists in clerical duties as needed,
  • Manages the training of new employees and students,
  • Segregates laboratory wastes according to established policies,
  • Works on special projects as requested by Director,
  • Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to assess data reflective of each patient's status and provide acre appropriate to the age of the patient served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric,
