Job Title: Senior Accountant (contract)

• Location: mostly Remote (Occasional Onsite Visits to Lewisville, TX Office)
• Contract Duration: 4-8 Weeks
• Pay: $45-60/hour depending on experience (open to Senior Accountant level, Manager, or Controller)

Company Overview: We are a dynamic real estate development company dedicated to creating exceptional properties and delivering outstanding value to our stakeholders. As we expand and embark on new projects, we are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to join our finance team on a contract basis. This role will be instrumental in managing the accounting functions for our new entities and ensuring a smooth audit process.

Position Overview: The Senior Accountant (Contract) will oversee full-cycle accounting for multiple entities, focusing on preparing audit schedules, conducting reconciliations, and ensuring accuracy in the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) subledgers. This role requires a meticulous professional with strong experience in real estate accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting with occasional visits to our Lewisville, TX office.

Key Responsibilities:

Full-Cycle Accounting:

• Manage all aspects of full-cycle accounting for three new entities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Audit Preparation:

• Prepare detailed audit schedules and supporting documentation for first-time audits of new entities.
• Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes and address any queries or issues that arise.

Reconciliation and Reporting:

• Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, ensuring that all discrepancies are identified and resolved.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, ensuring that subledgers tie to the general ledger.

Accounts Receivable and Payable Management:

• Monitor and manage AR and AP processes, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and collection efforts.
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions and proper follow-up on outstanding balances.

Process Improvement:

• Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role, preferably within the real estate development sector.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with audit preparation and financial reporting.
