Purpose of Position:

Assists Nurse Practitioner and Billing Manager with medical billing processing and claims, maintaining files, provides timely financial reports and other reports as needed.

• Collect and enter claim information.

• Post insurance payments and manage accounts.

• Submit claims and follow up with insurance carriers on unpaid or rejected claims.

• Answer inquires on account status and charges.

• Ensure billing practices are ethical and compliant with government regulations and guidelines.

Essential Functions:

We are seeking an entry level Medical Biller and Coder team member local to Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have excellent data entry, claim entry skills dealing with multiple states claims, have knowledge of Physical Health Medical billing and coding. 

Job Responsibilities

• Use electronic EMR billing system appropriately to submit claims to insurance daily

• Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper

• Knowledge of commercial, Medicare and Medicaid policies and billing guidelines

• Corrects claims in electronic billing system for missing or invalid insurance or patient information according to procedures

• Works closely with administrative team to ensure claims information is being submitted accurately and timely

• Keep management aware of issues and trends to enhance operations

• Uses payer websites to stay current on payer rules and changes to include reading newsletters and communicating payer/claim issues and trends.

• Maintains productivity standard as set forth by management team.

Education

GED or High School Diploma Required

Experience:

1-3 yr medical billing experience Preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel and Word

• Comfortable with talking on the phone to patients and payers

• CPC preferred

• Billing claims a plus

• Accounts Receivable a plus

• EMR experience required

*Prognocis experience preferred

Professional Certifications & Licenses:

CPC and/or CPB with or without apprentice certification are preferred

Other requirements:

Self-identify as a Peer by the International Association of Peer Supporters (INAPS) 

or Mental Health America definition and/or have (or have had a history) of a

Mental Health/Behavioral Health or Substance Use/Abuse Diagnosis - N/A for position

(Bona Fide Occupational Qualification) Preferred
