Program: Active Career Connect and Engagement Project for Internationally Educated Health Professionals (ACCEP-IEHP)

Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time (35 hours per week)

Job Summary:

The IT Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining the project’s online platforms and client database. The IT Specialist also provides technical support for all staff located in the BC and Ontario Offices, which includes administering the virtual delivery platform throughout the online sessions.

Reports to: Senior Program Manager

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops technological platforms to host online training sessions, webinars, and other online services for clients and employers
  • Performs the setup and testing of a virtual learning space
  • Initiates technology checks with Case Managers and Employer Specialists to ensure the technologies are running smoothly
  • Makes all preparations for a smooth and seamless live classroom environment
  • Oversees the delivery of virtual events and provides technical advice and instructions as required
  • Identifies and troubleshoots any technical problems that may arise in both the BC and Ontario offices
  • Provides enhancement and technical support for scheduling, online consultations, workshops/webinars, meetings, e-newsletters, and communication
  • Assists in designing, maintaining, and updating the online client database system
  • Prepares and submits technical reports as required
  • Works closely with other team members to ensure information online is accurate and updated
  • Assists in developing online marketing strategies to enhance client visits and page views
  • Posts marketing materials on various social media platforms as required
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as required

Education. Training & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in information management and online meeting platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of Laravel; able to code and perform backend database administrative tasks is an asset
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in web server, software, applications, and security
  • Experience in online communication tools
  • Knowledge of the latest technology, online communications, and social media
  • Solid understanding of the virtual delivery platforms
  • Familiar with the features of various video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex)
  • Solid understanding of Content Management Systems (CMS) platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) for managing content
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL) to store and retrieve information
  •  Knowledge of security best practices to protect user data and prevent breaches

  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations during webinars and training sessions
  • Ability to take information from software and programs to create email campaigns and announcements
  • Understand online marketing channels (social media, email, SEO) to promote project services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle stress
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to take initiative and be results-oriented
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive to changes
