Job Summary

The Electrical Reliability Engineer is responsible for maximizing the overall safety, efficiency, and reliability of the site’s electrical infrastructure, including but not limited to MCCs, switchgear, instruments, motors, and electrical distribution.

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Provide subject matter support and expertise on electrical and instrument systems to site Maintenance and Operations teams.
  • Develop and optimizes equipment strategies based on Asset Criticality and known failure modes and lead efforts to eliminate performance killers.
  • Review and recommend updates to spare parts strategies to optimize equipment availability.
  • Lead and/or participate in investigations and Failure Analysis to determine the root cause of failures and provide recommendations to mitigate current events and prevent failure recurrence.
  • Serve as the sites Electrical Installation Responsible Person (EIRP) and assist in the development and delivery of training for all site employees who work on electrical systems. As the EIRP, validate the competency of all site and contractor employees working on electrical systems.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for maintenance electrical asset integrity programs including high, medium, and low voltage assets, electrical drives and motors.
  • Lead and/or participate in Asset Performance Management (APM) activities such as Asset Criticality Assessment (ACA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and provide technical knowledge to identify equipment risks and create effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead inspection processes including planning, analyzing and reporting results. Develop and oversee mitigation plans as required.
  • Mentor engineers and crafts people performing the preventive and predictive inspections .
  • Provide advanced support for troubleshooting of predictive maintenance data and assist in the detecting and mitigation of early failures. Ensure the site is using the appropriate strategies for each asset based on failure modes.
  • Analyze inspection data as well as preventive and predictive maintenance reports and initiate corrective action when required.
  • Develop Inspection test plans for electrical projects, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Lead complex Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations as well as Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies and implement associated actions.
  • Maintain all equipment, inspection and maintenance files.
  • Ensure adequate spare parts are on a maintenance schedule of A&B Level Assets.
  • Participate in various capital improvement processes to insure reliability in design, standardization and lowest overall life cycle costs for all new assets.
  • Own and oversee a 5 year to 10 year Capital Maintenance Plan based on Asset Life Analysis (ALA) and defined maintenance strategies.

What Matters to SABIC

  • BS Engineering/Technical – A BS in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in an electrical/reliability engineering position required.

  • Ability to provide people the written information necessary to do their job correctly; ability to make relevant information known in a responsive and effective way.
  • Ability to effectively utilize computer based systems such as the Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP), Root Cause Analysis Software (PROACT), Microsoft Software Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and other industry standard software tools.
