With a community of nearly 40,000 students, many from vulnerable backgrounds, the unforeseen closure of schools then distance learning and the aftermath of COVID not only disrupted educational routines but also deeply affected the emotional and social well-being of our students and families. This upheaval, combined with societal challenges such as racial unrest and teacher/staff strikes, has further highlighted the need for trust, understanding, and unity within our community. We currently have nearly 30% of our students identified as chronically absent, that's nearly 10,000 students missing 18 days or more per school year. The Attendance and Engagement Office has initiated a comprehensive attendance & engagement improvement program to work at re-engaging all of our students for all our schools. Together, we can ensure every SCUSD student thrives Requirements / Qualifications TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in social services, counseling, human development, or a related field, and four years experience working with children or families is required. Advanced degrees and experience in school-based settings preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver's license; provide personal automobile and proof of insurance. Specific languages and District Primary Language Assessment may be required. Must be available to work at least two evenings per week or on Saturdays.
