Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional and physical support to expectant mothers during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum period
- Assist with patient assessment, including monitoring vital signs and providing comfort measures
- Educate patients on prenatal care, childbirth techniques, and breastfeeding
- Offer guidance and encouragement during labor, helping women to manage pain through breathing exercises and relaxation techniques
- Provide information on medical procedures and interventions, ensuring that patients are fully informed and empowered to make decisions about their birth experience
- Support the mother's birth plan and advocate for her preferences with healthcare providers
- Assist with postpartum care, including breastfeeding support and newborn care education
Skills:
- Strong patient service skills, demonstrating empathy, compassion, and the ability to establish rapport with expectant mothers
- In-depth knowledge of human physiology and anatomy, particularly related to pregnancy and childbirth
- Familiarity with medical terminology used in obstetrics and gynecology
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide reassurance in high-stress situations
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple clients and appointments
