Sacred Heart University is Hiring an Educational & Literacy Leadership - Assistant/Associate Professor, Farrington College of Education & Human Development Near Fairfield, CT

Sacred Heart University invites applications for a full-time, on-ground faculty position in the educational leadership Ed.D. program. The position may be tenure track or clinical track and is offered at the assistant professor or associate professor rank, depending on the credentials of the successful candidate. The program’s curricular focus is on social, emotional and academic learning (SEAL). The successful candidate will possess a strong background in social and emotional learning (SEL) and transformative social and emotional learning (tSEL), a keen understanding of how SEL principles are enacted by school leaders, and demonstrated experience of leadership and supporting successful program implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and revision of program coursework in SEL, intended for an educational leadership audience, for teaching doctoral level courses, with an emphasis on SEL, and for advising doctoral students, among other duties. Candidates should also have a track record of effective online teaching, and an ability to design courses connecting theory to practice in ways that push disciplinary boundaries through transformative perspectives. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide service to the college, university and professional community. Ideal candidates should possess background and experience in the following:Social and emotional learning research and practice;Development and successful implementation of standards-aligned curriculum; Design and delivery of professional learning for Pre-K-12 educators;Assessment and improvement of student outcomes;Data analytical fluency to assess and improve program outcomes;Evaluation of teachers and administrators; Demonstrated commitment to ensuring that all students achieve at high levels;Demonstrated expertise in social and emotional learning pedagogy;Demonstrated experience in trauma informed intervention; Demonstrated research agenda and/or teaching expertise that include a focus on racial justice and underrepresented voices, solidarity and allyship, critical race theory, and/or related asset-based frameworks;Support of community stakeholders in championing SEL implementation; andTeaching and advising at the doctoral level. Minimum Qualifications:Earned doctorate in educational leadership or related field;Record of K-12 teaching and leadership experience;Record of, or potential for, scholarly productivity;Higher education teaching experience at the graduate level; andExperience with and understanding of state and national standards, including accreditation, in educational leadership. Preferred Qualifications: Higher education teaching experience at the doctoral level; Record of doctoral level advising;Documented experience of having served as first reader/chair on doctoral dissertations; andTeaching/Leadership certification Application Instructions:Applicants should upload a letter of interest that relates qualifications to the requirements of the position, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference and transcripts to the chair of the search committee (Dr. David Title), through the SHU online Application Portal.
