Programmer 3- Machine Operations

Position Title:
Machine Programmer
Level: Machine Programmer Level 3
Department: Fabrication/Machine Operations
Reports to: Machine OperationsProduction Supervisor
Location: Bremerton
Shift: Day 5:00am – 3:30pm M-TH
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 DOE

JOB SUMMARY
:
Using intermediate to advanced IT and programming skills and experience, this position is responsible for programming router machines, conducting plate and extrusion takes, tracking router utilization metrics, and assistance with material ordering. The Machine Programmer works closely with router Lead and Supervisor and the Engineering Team, communicating with them daily to meet production needs and priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs equipment and machine programming for boat and other projects
  • Generate nest sheets and provide to Router Lead
  • In collaboration with Engineer and Supervisors and Leads, determines upcoming material order requirements
  • Logs completed hours information for each boat from nest sheets
  • Creates material issue report for each project and submits to accounting
  • Prioritizes programming projects to align with boat build scheduling needs
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment and tools that improve workflow, efficiency, and team member safety. Drives and implements approved changes under the direction of the Supervisor.
  • Will set up and/or verify settings on router machines
  • Communicates information effectively, timely, and accurately to Supervisor and Manager
  • Communicates information effectively, timely, and accurately to team members
  • Works with Supervisor to systematically problem solve major issues
  • Problem solves minor issues
  • Set example of safe work practices & follows all other SAFE Boats policies
  • May operate equipment and machinery based on the needs of the business
  • Works with engineering team to communicate and resolve issues regarding any issues with engineering deliverables in a professional and friendly manner
  • Must be willing to occasionally work over 40 hours / week to meet the company needs
  • Maintains records and other documentation supporting CNC programs, sequenced
Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge in SBI operations practices
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in most complex tasks
  • Works with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with their team members and other citizens of SAFE Boats
  • Adheres to all procedures and safe work practices
  • Assists in basic problem solving with less experienced team members
  • Possess the ability to organize priorities and multitask accordingly
Required Experience & Education:
  • A minimum of 3 years programming equipment and machinery such as router tables and CNC machines
  • Ability to code strongly preferred
  • Ability to learn and apply new software and information technology
  • Requires a working knowledge in the usage of production machinery, common hand tools, handheld power tools and equipment
  • Requires good problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such defective parts, equipment or designs issued, tool and equipment problems, while maintaining productivity
  • High School Diploma or GED; Vocational School, Technical School or Military Training or equivalent work experience
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Grasping, writing, reading, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, stooping, squatting, and stretching to complete tasks
  • Listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
  • Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces
  • Forklift and scissor lift operations
  • Ability or willingness to learn how to use a computer/tablet, telephone, and other office equipment, if assigned
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)
