SAFE HARBOR MARINAS is Hiring a Diver & Safety Coordinator Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

The HS&E Coordinator & Diver is responsible for implementing the company’s overall safety and health program. The position reports to the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, establish and maintain a comprehensive companywide safety, health, and environmental program.
  • Assess and analyze all jobs, processes, and materials for potential hazards.
  • Work with appropriate personnel to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate accident prevention and hazard control strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, standards, and codes.
  • Plan, implement and broker as appropriate, safety, health, and environmental related training.
  • Maintain all required safety, health and environmental related records and reports.
  • Conduct accident investigations, as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain an ongoing safety promotion effort.
  • Analyze the day-to-day operations form the health, safety, and environmental perspective, with emphasis on the reduction of liability.
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this position.
  • Some weekend work required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Dive-related Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety protocols for every team member.
  • Provide underwater assistance with the lifting of vessels out of the water via underwater straps connected to travel lift (hauling).
  • Provide underwater assistance with the removal of straps from vessel (launching).
  • Conduct underwater visual inspections of vessels.
  • Conduct underwater preventive maintenance on vessels including, but not limited to, unfolding propellers, clearing intakes, and attaching or removing parts.
  • Perform bottom cleaning of vessels underwater in accordance with FDEP Clean Marina BMPs.
  • Utilize daily safety meeting to cover site specific hazards.
  • Uphold company expectations for each customer.
  • Complete dispatched items in an efficient and comprehensive fashion.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, Sales Team, Haul, Block, and Launch HS&E and Customers regarding scope of work or schedule changes, and safety concerns.
  • Ability to follow directions and able to be self-directed.
  • Complete assigned paperwork including but not limited to: Daily logs, Dive logs, Reports, Additional Work.
  • Work outside year around.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. 
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately. 

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Scuba dive certification to at least the Rescue Diver Level
  • Valid CPR, First Aid, Oxygen Administration and AED Certification
  • Valid Driver’s License
