SAFE, Inc is Hiring a Staff Assistant: Public Affairs and Communications Near Washington, DC

SAFE (formerly known as Securing America’s Future Energy), seeks a Staff Assistant to support its Communications and Public Affairs team. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual beginning their communications career and looking to gain first-hand experience in the field of policy communications while supporting our team in some key administrative functions. Members of our team are intellectually curious and passionate about the intersection of energy policy, national security, and climate issues, and are interested in bringing attention to detail, creativity, and digital savvy to advance SAFE’s mission.
This position reports directly to SAFE’s SVP of Public Affairs.
About SAFESAFE is an action-oriented, nonpartisan organization committed to transportation, energy, and supply chain policies that advance the economic and national security of the United States, its partners, and allies. SAFE’s expert staff works with the Energy Security Leadership Council (ESLC), a peerless coalition of Fortune 500 CEOs and retired four-star military officers, to drive secure, resilient, and sustainable policy solutions.
SAFE’s work has expanded past its original focus on reducing America’s oil dependence to encompass global transportation, energy policy, and mineral supply chain issues to address many of our most pressing societal challenges. By pushing for international cooperation, radical transparency, and coupling reindustrialization with decarbonization, SAFE advances a comprehensive approach—from the first raw materials to the very last mile.
SAFE’s Pillar Initiatives Include
  • The Center for Critical Minerals Strategy
  • The Center for Strategic Industrial Materials
  • The Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo)
  • The Grid Security Project
  • The European Initiative for Energy Security (EIES)
  • The Electrification Coalition (EC)
SAFE has played an essential role in the energy policy dialogue since its founding in 2005. In a polarized political environment where most voices in energy policy have been ideologically defined by the left or right’s political platforms, SAFE has remained focused on pragmatic solutions that address supply and demand-side considerations as part of a holistic approach to energy security. Responsibilities

  • Manage and enhance our digital infrastructure, ensuring robust, up-to-date channels for our content.

  • Contribute to the design and production of engaging visuals, graphics, and multimedia content to elevate our online presence and effectively communicate complex policy issues.
  • Track and analyze social media and digital metrics to gauge campaign effectiveness, using insights to drive improvements and report on impact.
  • Act as a key player in establishing and nurturing our organizational voice and perspective in the field of energy security.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a talent for tailoring content to diverse audiences, integrating policy insight with engaging narratives.
  • Proficiency or demonstrated interest in social media platforms, content creation tools, and digital infrastructure management.
  • Analytical skills to interpret digital metrics and translate them into actionable strategies.
  • Capacity to multitask and innovate in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Requirements
  • 0-3 years of experience in content creation, digital strategy, social media management, or related fields, preferably in a policy-oriented environment.
  • A passion for and understanding of energy, transportation, or mineral security issues, with a desire to contribute meaningfully to these conversations.
  • Flexibility to embrace various responsibilities, adapt to changing priorities, and drive forward organizational objectives.
Salary range: $55,000-$65,000 per year commensurate with experience, with an exceptional benefits package. SAFE provides a generous health benefits package covering up to 100% of premiums for employees and their families, 401K with 3% employer contribution and life insurance, as well as other benefits to be detailed in the offer.
Location: The individual will be based in Washington, D.C. and will work from SAFE’s conveniently-located office.
