General Summary:

This position is pivotal in managing and optimizing our logistics operations, ensuring the seamless and cost-effective flow of goods from the vendor to the distribution center. The Logistics Specialist will be the key player, coordinating with various departments and managing transportation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Essential Job Functions:

• Manage the tracking and overseas delivery appointments and scheduling.
• Manage and track shipments on multiple platforms.
• Collect invoices for upcoming shipments matching invoices with freight forward shipment information.
• Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, and transportation companies to ensure timely delivery.
• Monitor shipment status and address any issues or delays promptly.
• Understand how to forecast inbound volume.
• Analyze logistics data to identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare regular reports on logistics performance and KPIs.
• Address and resolve any logistical issues that arise.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop solutions to logistics challenges.
• Updates company software to ensure accurate delivery dates are being tracked.
• Create and maintain reports and presentations.
• Tracking rail container movements from port to dock.
• Scheduling container deliveries and pickups with local companies.
• Develop and Implement KPIs (Transit time, Lead Time)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• 2 years of logistics/transportation experience is required, offering a solid foundation for further growth and development in this field.
• SAP experience (or any other ERP system experience)
• TMS experience (preferred)
• Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office (Excel).
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Customer service and communication skills.
• The role requires strong collaboration skills, as the Logistics Specialist will need to work with multiple partners and peers across the organization and outside to achieve project and operational results.
• High Level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency.
• Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment.
• Bi-lingual Spanish/English (not required)
• Standing 50% of the time.
• Ability to lift at least 35 pounds.
• Pushing, pulling, bending, walking.
• Ability to follow proper safety procedures.
• Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends, when necessary.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma
• Proven experience as a Logistics Manager, Logistics Specialist, and Logistics Coordinator.
