Within Safran Electronics & Defense, our Timing & Synchronization division is the leader in R-PNT (Resilient Positioning, Navigation & Timing) solutions. We supply military and commercial industries worldwide with accurate timing technologies and equipment (Time Servers, Inertial Navigation System), as well as ultra-precise timing and frequency distribution for applications requiring a high degree of reliability and accuracy across IP time distribution standards.

The Position:

You report to the Purchasing Director. For projects assigned to you, you will oversee all stages of the purchasing process, from bid management, supplier selection, contracting, industrialization to the delivery of pre-production parts.

You will consult with suppliers according to the purchasing strategy and following the purchasing procedures of the quality management system, in line with project objectives (risk management, costs, deadlines, quality).

You will lead the Make or Buy approach within the framework of RFQs (request for quotation, synthesis, and conducting reviews with suppliers and internally).

You will formalize the supplier relationship according to the contract terms and conditions, ensuring performance objectives.

For each of these projects, you will be part of a team for which you will be responsible for procurement and related activities. You will primarily work with our R&D, industrialization, and quality departments, and serve as the liaison with our subcontractors during the industrialization of new products or production transfers.

Frequent travel is anticipated at suppliers in US or abroad (25%).

The Day to Day:

• To interact with suppliers, engineering, project teams to meet project’s goal.
• To execute cross-functional project management on parts development and initiatives
• To be responsible for project purchaser metrics (Schedule, Cost to market, etc)
• Manage procurement parts for R&D purposes
• To organize the transition to supply chain and production teams

What you Bring to Safran:

• BS degree is required in the field of Business, Science or Engineering; combination of education and equivalent purchasing experience is required
• 3 years of related purchasing experience is required
• Experience in Lean and continuous improvement processes
• Knowledge of cost breakdown, price and make our buy analysis
• Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes preferable
• Proficient in MS Office
