Middle School Science Teacher Job Description

Contract part – time but may consider full-time

190 Days (August through May)

St. Francis Catholic School, located in Hilton Head Island, SC., has an opening for the 2024.25 academic year for a highly motivated science teacher with a passion for teaching to join our family-oriented, and faith-based learning environment.

We are looking for a resourceful and energetic teacher ready to create engaging science lessons and labs as we educate students both academically and spiritually. While we are following the academic standards set forth by the Diocese of Charleston, our teachers develop creative and innovative ways to teach real-life application of skills and concepts necessary for success in life and learning.

Duties:

· Know, teach, and act in accordance with the mission of the school and tenets of the Catholic Church.

· Create middle school science lesson plans that are both educational and engaging.

· Proficiency in conducting laboratory experiments and guiding students in hands-on scientific investigations.

· Assess student progress and understanding through regular evaluations, assignments, and assessments.

· Provide constructive feedback and support to students, addressing their individual needs and promoting their overall academic growth.

· Utilize excellent communication skills to establish positive relationships with parents, students, staff, and the community.

· Utilize technology and other resources to enhance student learning and engagement.

· Possess a working knowledge of Google Classroom

· Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance

· Participate in school-wide events and activities as needed

· Attend professional development opportunities

Requirements:

· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education, science, or equivalent

· Teaching certificate or license (or working towards)
