- JOB SUMMARY
- Coordinating unit workflow and setting priorities in an effort to ensure efficient unit operations in a safe and cost effective manner.
- Planning, executing, and evaluation of the pre-op, recovery and post-op process
- Assessment and education of patients prior and after their surgical procedure.
- Close collaboration with the P.A.T. department in regards to completion of consents and other documentation.
- Providing optimal, safe and effective nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with policies and procedures of the hospital, and professional nursing standards.
- Demonstrating critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the planning of patient care.
The Pre-op/PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for: - EDUCATION
- Graduate of school of nursing.
- LICENSURE
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of West Virginia
- EXPERIENCE
- One to three years of critical care experience is preferred.
- CERTIFICATION
- Healthcare BLS validation preferred within 60 days of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines thereafter.
- ACLS required within 1 year of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines.
- PALS preferred within 1 year of employment with revalidation per AHA guidelines.
- Certification in specialty preferred, such as CPAN, CCRN preferred.
- COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
- Must be or become familiar with the hospital computer system.
- JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period; extended probationary period may be acceptable upon a case by case basis after consultation with Human Resources and the VP of Nursing Services.
- Participates in all required educational and competency offerings related to safety, including patient safety activities. Agrees to abide by the Saint Francis Hospital implementation plans for the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals. Provides feedback concerning any patient safety issues identified within the hospital.
