What’s the job?

The Director, Benefits and Well-being is a key member of the Saint-Gobain Total Rewards leadership team reporting to the Vice President, Total Rewards. This position will be responsible for directing a team in managing the strategy, plan design, communications, and administration of benefits for all active employees and retirees in North America. This role provides operational and strategic leadership to ensure our benefits package remains market-competitive and meets the needs of our employees and their families. An individual should display a passion for delivering innovative and sustainable benefit solutions that drive a positive employee experience, foster diversity, and deliver on business objectives.

What will you do?

The Director, Benefits and Well-being will work closely with the Vice President of Total Rewards and the Director of Compensation to develop and execute on the Company’s Total Rewards strategy which includes:

  • Implementation of Total Rewards holistic well-being portal personalized to individual needs and that delivers a positive and consistent employee experience
  • Development and management of a multi-year holistic integrated well-being strategy – physical, emotional, social, and financial
  • Develop benefit plan designs and innovative programs for healthcare, retirement, leave administration, and well-being aligned with our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) based on benchmarking, utilization, and employee feedback
  • Evolve the Employee Value Proposition Roadmap through programs based on our employee listening strategy
  • Recommend strategy for the administration of state leave laws to ensure a consistent and positive experience for employees
  • Design, develop, and review employee health and welfare and retirement benefit communications and marketing materials including training, plan documents, and SPDs as well as offering employee benefit fairs so all employees understand how to best maximize the value of their benefits
  • Support the US and Canadian Benefits Committee with design proposals, approvals, and appeals
  • Partner with the Compensation Team to transition of the annual Total Rewards Statement to a quarterly deliverable
  • Direct due diligence and integration planning activities related to all mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
  • Partner with the Labor Relations team to support ongoing labor relations strategy and union negotiations
  • Collaborate with Retirement Team to develop communications, programs, and trainings to deliver to employees to foster engagement and retirement readiness
  • Provide technical expertise to, and collaborate with, key partners across the business including HR, Labor Relations, HRIS, Talent Management, Employee Experience, Communications, and Finance
  • Lead and develop a team of motivated benefits professionals and foster an environment of creative thinking and problem solving while delivering value add programs and a positive employee experience to benefit the overall all holistic well-being our employees

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in the required field
  • 8-10 years’ experience in HR and benefits related function
  • 5-7 years in progressive strategic leadership position(s)
  • Demonstrated success in recommending solutions, delivering results, prioritizing tasks, driving toward timely and accurate completion, and shifting easily between high-level and detailed information to provide timely and audience-appropriate responses
  • Deep and thorough understanding of company benefits rules, regulations, policies, and procedures including federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits, including COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, state and local leave laws and Section 125
  • Excellent business and financial acumen, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to build and foster partnerships across various stakeholders and develop collaborative working relationships with a strong emphasis on the employee experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple service providers and leveraging the consultant relationship to ensure the Company is providing competitive benefits focused on a positive employee experience and well-being
  • Focus on continuous improvement with excellent project management skills
