    About the Position:
    Saint Ignatius High School, a highly successful Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an exceptional biology teacher beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time position will include planning for and teaching a full load of freshman biology and leadership of one student advisory. Depending on the candidate’s professional experience, the opportunity to teach other science courses is possible.
    Experience teaching high school biology is a plus, as well as a willingness to participate in the extracurricular and faith formation life of the school. The candidate should expect to engage in ongoing professional development opportunities. Access to an annual professional development allowance and numerous personal and professional growth opportunities are offered.
    As a Catholic School in the Jesuit tradition, Saint Ignatius has been educating “Men for Others” for over 130 years. Because of its dedication to cura personalis (care for the whole person), the school is known locally, as well as nationally, as a leader in educational excellence and Catholic faith formation. At graduation, students will be open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to peace and justice.
    Primary Areas of Responsibility:
    • Plan for and teach a full load of freshman biology with the possibility of teaching other science courses.
    • Guide high-impact, college-preparatory learning activities that align with our school standards and mission.
    • Create and maintain a classroom with fair and consistent standards in all areas
    • -including content and assessments as well as fostering interpersonal relationships and positive student behavior.
    • Serve as an advisor to a group of students.
    • Participate in the extracurricular life of the school, either through participation in Science Olympiad, First Robotics, or another activity of choice.
    • Participate in the mission life of the school by attending student retreats, serving at all-school masses, participating in service projects, etc.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology or integrated science;
    • Experience teaching in a high school classroom setting. Familiarity with college preparatory Catholic Jesuit education is a plus.
    • Current Ohio teaching license in AYA Integrated Science or eligibility to obtain.

To challenge students and prepare them for college, the Saint Ignatius curriculum offers 21 Advanced Placement (AP) and 32 honors courses. In September 2009, the school was designated a Blue Ribbon school by the U.S. Department of Education.
