Business Manager

The Business Manager oversees the tuition and financial aid processes, and maintains oversight over the revenue and receivable accounts in the general ledger. The Business Manager provides excellent customer service to families. Through this work, the Tuition and Financial Aid Specialist supports and strengthens the mission of Saint Joseph High School to transform students in heart and mind, preparing them to serve God, the Church, and the world. 

Responsibilities

Tuition Management

  • Creates student tuition accounts in FACTS Management and ensures families make appropriate payment arrangements. Works with FACTS Management Company for automatic monthly debiting and co-management of accounts.
  • Prepares journal entries each month for the general ledger from entries to the student accounts and accounts receivable software. Reconciles the general ledger with the accounts receivable software.
  • Prepares monthly journal entries for recognizing revenue and expenses related to tuition, scholarships, financial and discounting.
  • Conducts quarterly review of delinquent accounts with the Director of Finance and Business Operations and initiates appropriate steps to collect accounts according to established procedures.
  • Works closely with the Director of Counseling and College Advising and the Director of Admissions regarding enrollment, withdrawals, delinquent accounts, etc.

Financial Aid

  • Works with the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County to account for scholarship funds and endowments held by or on behalf of Saint Joseph High School. 
  • Reviews financial aid applications and makes award decisions based upon established guidelines at the direction of the Director of Finance and Business Operations.
  • Implements the School Choice program and meets all deadlines for submission, and recordkeeping requirements, and ensures adherence to eligibility standards.
  • Communicates with appropriate persons concerning family financial matters.
  • Communicates with parish pastors regarding parish status (active registered parishioner) and subsidy credits, and with grade school principals regarding family financial status.
  • Assists parents regarding the financial aid process and eligibility.

Other

  • Assists the Director of Admissions and maintains all relevant statistics on all aspects of the admissions program.
  • Assists the Director of Admissions by representing the Business Office at Open House (1st semester) and Freshman Registration (2nd semester).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Business Operations
  • Communicates regularly with the Director of Finance and Business Operations and Director of Admissions.

Organizational Structure

  • The Business Manager reports to the Director of Finance and Business Operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business or accounting.
  • Experience working with accounts receivable and/or financial aid preferred. 

Skills:

The successful candidate will have exceptional organizational skills; good communication skills; attention to detail and the ability to take direction as well as initiative and follow-through; be team-oriented and mission driven; be proficient in excel or google sheets; be able to work independently and as part of a team; and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
