SAINT JOSEPH MEDICAL CENTER is Hiring a Program Director Near Bronx, NY

POSITION TITLE: Program Director

REPORTS TO: Administrative Director

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Administrative Director of Residential Services, the Program Manager is directly responsible for the day-to-day clinical and programmatic supervision of the program. Quality of care, responsible stewardship of revenue and attention to hospital’s administrative processes are all critical components of this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES;

1. Provides administrative and clinical supervision to staff of the Intensive Transitional Living Residence under his/her responsibility. Records supervisory notes in electronic record.

2. Plans, develops and monitors daily operations of program.

3. Participates in the development/coordination of policy and programming relevant to the programs as well as the Residential Services as a whole.

4. Assignment of cases to staff to insure prompt patient care and equality of caseload.

5. Collects/records monthly revenue and maximizes on all revenue collection.

6. Ensures client benefits (SSI/SSD/SSP/Medicaid and/or food stamps) are current and activated.

7. Participates in personnel decisions including the hiring, disciplinary action, promotion, and transfer of staff.

8. Oversees and ensures full compliance with documentation of patient care (charting) by all staff members within the program.

9. Coordinates and provides staff training and development.

10. Provides on-call coverage (24/7) for the program.

11. Responsible for maintaining compliance with NYS/OMH, JCAHO, NYC/DOHMH, and other regulatory guidelines as they pertain to the program.

12. Represents the program in the Residential Services Referral/Utilization Review Committee.

13. Ensures cleanliness of client apartments. Collects monthly environmental apartment’s checklists from staff and makes random checks to ensure safety and overall quality conditions of apartments.

14. Reviewing weekly/monthly billable notes, ensuring that restorative goals are measurable and quantifiable.

15. Ensure that there are monthly groups and socialization activities coordinated for clients.

16. Participates in preparation and development of budget and ensures efficient utilization of budget resources.

17. Responsible for maintaining good community relations with neighbors of the program site.

18. Chairs the program’s case conferences, community meetings and staff meetings.

19. Serves as liaison with other Residential Services Units and agencies.

20. Responsible for maintaining program census by conducting timely screenings of applicant, including outreach and prescreening at inpatient units and shelters.

21. Responsible for maintaining adequate census levels.

22. Responsible for maintaining compliance with OMH, and other regulatory guidelines as they pertain to the program.

23. Interaction/liaison with the Bronx Psychiatric Center campus administration, referring sources such as PC’s and Article 28 hospitals, HRA, OMH Central Office Bureau of Child and Adult State Operated Services, Central NY Psych Services Pre-Release Services, and State Psychiatric Centers within NYC as well as Rockland Psychiatric Center and Pilgrim Psychiatric Center and the NYC Field Office.

24. Completes other assignments given by the Administrative Director or the VP of Residential Services.

25. Adheres to SJMC and departmental policies and procedures; Additionally, adheres to policies related to Infection Control, Patient Safety, Confidentiality, Patient’s Rights, Advance Directives, Disaster Protocol, Safety and Fire Prevention, Attendance and Punctuality

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Master’s Degree in social welfare, behavioral health, or related field required.

· Licensed professional preferred.

· Ensures tenant apartments are fully equipped and that safety features including smoke detectors, locks, CO detectors, fire extinguishers) are in place and functional

· Trains and supervises staff in ensuring comfortable and attractive tenant apartments. Provides hands-on support to tenants in apartment care/skills training.

· Collects monthly apartment checklists from staff. Makes random checks to ensure safety and overall quality conditions in apartments.

· Organizes community events for tenants including socialization activities

· Responds in a timely and accountable manner to tenant grievances/inquiries from funders and regulators

· Completes annual performance evaluations for each staff member.

· Ensures adherence to SJMC policies, procedures, documentation and quality of care standards

· Cultural competence/cultural humility

· Ensures timely documentation

· Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

· Demonstrates professionalism

· Demonstrates safe driving skills

· Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with hospital policies and procedures related to Infection Control, Patient Safety, Confidentiality, Patients’ Rights, Advance Directives, Disaster Protocol, Safety and Fire Prevention, Attendance and Punctuality

· Identifies and reduces unsafe practices. This may include reporting unsafe practices, holding accountable the adherence of safe practices, or providing feedback for ideas for safer practices.

· Prevents Hospital Acquired Infections by appropriate hand hygiene. This may include fostering hand hygiene initiatives and holding staff accountable for appropriate hand hygiene.

· Participates in hospital-wide quality initiatives to improve patient safety.

· Demonstrates knowledge of and participates in, the department’s quality improvement initiatives.

· Demonstrates knowledge of incident reporting procedures and seeks supervisory assistance with same knowledge.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

· Minimum three years’ experience in mental health setting.

· Experience in the mental health field with SMI, Forensic and Co-Occurring populations.

· At least one year supervisory and administrative experience.

  • Demonstrate good clinical assessment, diagnostic and treatment skills

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Must have a valid drivers’ license in good standing.

· Ability to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment.

· Proficiency in electronic health records and information databases, retrieval and analysis of data

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, WORD, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in database navigation

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
