Description:POSITION PURPOSE
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides quality patient-centered care considering age specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs through competent clinical practice and application of the nursing process for up to 6 months.
Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesViews patient holistically; considers physical, psychosocial, emotional, age specific, cultural and spiritual factors and demonstrates appropriate observation/interaction skills for an identified patient population.
Participates effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team by collaborating to achieve patient outcomes. Participates directly or indirectly in interdisciplinary rounds. Assures achievement of quality patient outcomes in collaboration with medical staff, the health care team, and their supervising RN.
Under the direction of their supervising RN, gathers and analyzes patient information and implements corrective interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
Under the direction of their supervising RN, identifies patient and family education needs and develops a teaching plan based on existing standards. Utilizes ask 3, teach 3 to assure patient and family is learning effectively.
Respectfully communicates both written and verbal information that is accurate, timely, concise, and thorough. Effectively communicates patient status, priority goals, and interventions to colleagues and other disciplines during consultation, rounds, and handoffs.
Efficiently organizes and prioritizes individual workload around patient needs. Adjusts activities and plan depending on situation. Seeks to improve personal organization skills to increase work efficiencies. Consistently demonstrates purposeful rounding. Identifies appropriate interventions and follow up for delegation to assistive staff.
Contributes to the development/revision of the nursing care plan using evidence based interventions and standards of care, while actively involving the patient and family.
Demonstrates professional behaviors: Identifies own education and professional growth needs, develops plan and seeks resources to address needs.
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to Trinity Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places. Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of Trinity Health.
Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
Other Functions And ResponsibilitiesPerforms other duties as assigned.Required Education, Experience And Certification/LicensureEducation: Graduation from accredited nursing Program. New hires as of 1/1/2013 must have an ADN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their ADN within the specified time frame.

  • Requires application for Michigan Nursing License
  • Position is time limited for no greater than 6 months until license is received from State of Michigan.
  • Passing of licensure exam is required after three attempts to take the test. Failure to pass after three attempts will terminate the role.
Required Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of nursing theory, nursing practice and age specific needs.
Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care.
Ability to walk and stand continuously and move, lift, and position patients.
