Saint Mary parish is looking to hire a Director of Youth Ministry. this is a full time position that reports to the pastor. The Director of Youth Ministry oversees a parish catechetical program, including evangelization, formation, and discipleship of parish youth (middle school through high school).
The essential duties and responsibilities are to:
• Establish comprehensive High School ministry, including development of an adult team responsible for reaching a diversity of parish youth
• Work together with (and grow) current team of volunteers to further develop Middle School ministry (EDGE)
• Provide on-going training, team building and formation for adult teams, in conjunction with clergy
o Collaborate with the diocesan Institute for Catholic Formation to host training events
• Coordinate annual calendar of events, including...
o Weekly catechetical, spiritual and human formation
o Charitable works of service
o Social outings, introducing youth to riches of Catholic faith "destinations" in area
o Liturgical year celebrations and feast days
o Summer Mission Trips, camps, and conferences
o Retreats
o Occasional parent nights
• Coordinate (when appropriate) events and programs with various parish ministries
• Participate in ongoing formation and educational opportunities to keep current on trends in youth ministry.
• Communicate with parish families through direct emails and newsletters
• Communicate with parish through email newsletters and bulletin content
• Prepare an annual budget for the Business Manager and monthly financial updates
• Present annual calendar for Pastor's approval by the May meeting
• Be in compliance with the Diocesan Safe Environment Program, and enforce its implementation
• Attend staff meetings and become an integral member of the parish pastoral staff
o Work with staff to assure well scheduled and smooth operations of the youth ministries
• Serve as a resource to families
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn expeditiously the diocesan-wide ParishSoft program.
Candidates should have a:
• BA in Theology/Pastoral Studies or a related field OR equivalent experience.
• Must be a Catholic in good standing, with an active prayer life and developed personal spirituality.
• Broad knowledge and clear understanding of Roman Catholic teachings and ability to present them in an accessible and engaging way.
• Ability to carry out administrative and supervisory duties in a timely fashion, utilizing strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency at basic computer applications; with excellent communication and publicity skills.
• Virtus Safe Environment Program training completion and on-going maintenance as required by diocesan office.
