Salado Isolation Mining Contractors is Hiring a Facility Systems Lead Engineer Near Carlsbad, NM

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Facility Systems Lead Engineer and join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate will be the team leader for the Facility Systems group, reporting to the Facility Systems Engineering Manager. As a team lead, you must be able to demonstrate and provide leadership in your area of responsibility. Interfaces and coordinates with different departments throughout WIPP to maintain equipment reliability, safety, and operability to facilitate the site mission. Ensures workload of team members is prioritized and assigned to maintain productivity and quality objectives, while ensuring workflows are defined, implemented, and effective. Ability to set goals and schedules and meet schedule commitments. Utilizes strong organizational and problem-solving skills and creative thinking to introduce and manage change in order to achieve continuous improvement. Establishes and maintains effective two-way communication to understand needs and concerns of team members. Maintains consistent communication with management on key issues, potential issues, and approach to resolutions.

Exempt Salary Grade (30-34)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with two (2) years of relevant experience is required.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience working for a DOE Nuclear Facility is desirable.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Minimum salary $78,719 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
