Job SummaryThe Construction Program Manager is responsible for leading large construction projects, and programs, as well as EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) and Design-Build Projects and Programs. The CPM has in-depth knowledge and experience in industrial design, planning, and construction to advise clients on project execution throughout all engineering, construction, and commissioning phases of a project. The Construction Program Manager is primarily responsible for directing project construction planning and execution in keeping with the overall project objectives.
The Construction Program Manager (Sr. CPM) is primarily responsible for executing projects from start to finish; must clearly communicate with subcontractors and owners; have a strong understanding of site safety, budgets, cost control and constructability. In addition, they are detailed oriented with proven ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to meet deadlines; and are known for being able to provide innovative and sound solutions to complex problems.
The Sr. CPM is responsible for the daily management, supervision, coordination and successful completion of construction projects to meet time and cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding and contract administration functions.
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop a high-performance team through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring. Ensure regular feedback is shared with staff including timely completion of employee performance appraisals.
  • Conduct buy-out meetings and prepare subcontracts.
  • Possess working knowledge of all projects plans, specifications, Owner Contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals and all other project related documents and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
  • Initiate, establish and maintain working relationships with owner/architect/engineer and subcontractors to facilitate construction activities.
  • Establish, update, and communicate Master Project Schedule and manage its implementation.
  • Lead preconstruction team in development of project scope.
  • Manage the bid process, including qualifying bidders.
  • Manage budget and financial reporting, interpret and analyze financial reports.
  • Manage the quality assurance/quality control program.
  • Provide leadership in risk evaluation, contract negotiations, fee and pricing decisions.
  • Develop cost-effective solutions due to design conflicts and propose alternate solutions to reduce costs.
  • Support all phases of a project including programming, schematic design, design development, construction document and construction administration services in accordance with the requirements of the Owner/Architect Contract Agreement.
  • Drive competencies to team on requirements for insurance, labor relations, and employee relations.
  • Work with Accounting to initiate the payment application process and follow up to ensure payment is received in a timely manner.
  • Perform sales duties at the project site and for perspective new clients.
Education And ExperienceBachelor's degree plus a minimum of ten years project management experience or fifteen years project management experience. Preference for experience in industrial construction in chemical, and heavy manufacturing industries.
Licenses/Credentials/Certifications: OSHA 30 minimum. Additional valuable but not essential certifications include: BIM360 Build/ACC, Procore, PMP Certification.
The Physical and Ergonomic Requirements of this position are as follows:
  • Lifting/carrying: Carrying light loads related to field measurement equipment, and equipment cases weighing 15 lbs. or less.
  • Dexterity: Ability to type using a keyboard with relative efficiency, ability to make handwritten notes and sketches indoors and outdoors at industrial plants and construction sites at any time of the year.
  • Walking/Climbing: Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to discern single line and 3-dimensional computer images representing objects being designed or drafted.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Physical exertion: Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plants and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year. Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Breathing: Ability to work while wearing a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus.

Travel: 50% to client sites
