What You’ll Do:
The instructional coach position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced coach or classroom teacher who possesses special expertise in the area of math, including curriculum development and review, strong instructional practices, assessment development, and data analysis. The primary goal of the instructional coach is to build capacity for high-quality, accessible standards-based instruction in every classroom as well as support development of a tiered support/intervention model. The instructional coach will function primarily as a coach in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, but may be asked to work with students directly up to 20% of the time.

Note: The evaluation of teachers is not part of the instructional coach’s responsibilities. The instructional coach does provide non-evaluative feedback to teachers.

Work Year: Teachers in Salem Public Schools work a 185 day school year (180 student contact days plus 5 professional development days). The coach’s schedule follows the school calendar, with an additional 7 days required. Please visit www.salemk12.org to view the 2023-24 district and/or school calendar.
Salary: Teacher salaries in the Salem Public Schools are determined by the Salem Teachers Union collective bargaining agreement. Salary information can be found in Appendix A. Coaches receive an additional $3,000 coordinator stipend for the added 7 days. Use our new Salem Teacher Salary estimator here. Collins Middle School teachers receive an additional 4% differential on top of their base salary for a slightly longer (7 hour) school day.
