    Job Summary:
    The Intervention Specialist is responsible for supporting implementation of the social, emotional, and character development (SECD) standards as well as other district initiatives: R.T.I., PBIS, CHAMPS/DSC, and Restorative Practices. The intervention specialist will provide on-site assistance to help address barriers that interfere with students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success.
    Qualifications: Preferred experience in social work and/or educational administration.
    Essential Functions:
    The successful candidate for Intervention Specialist will:
      Support the vision and mission of U.S.D. 305
      Possess human relation skills to work with groups of teachers 9-12;
      Exhibit organizational skills;
      Have knowledge or willingness to learn about national and state curriculum standards relating to social, emotional, and character development;
      Serve as a team player with strong conflict resolution skills.
      Set goals, construct action plans, and carry out such goal and plans;
      Possess initiative to keep current on research about trends, innovations, and effective practices;
      Possess strong technological skills;
      Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, social workers, and other school staff to strengthen all aspects of the school program;
      Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with district-level directors and program coordinators;
      Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with community organizations and create stakeholder partnerships.
    Responsibilities:
      Support administrators, teachers, and other school staff in identifying root causes of student behavioral issues and ways to meet student social and emotional needs;
      Support school staff in delivering evidence-based small group interventions and individual interventions;
      Coordinate and provide leadership to the PBIS/CHAMPS/DSC implementation teams at the building level;
      Assist with behavior data disaggregation and evaluation;
      Introduce staff to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student ability to access the educational environment;
      Coordinate and conduct staff development at the school and district levels;
      Make informal classroom observations and provide immediate feedback for the purpose of behavioral support and program improvement (not evaluation);
      Assist teachers in incorporating the use of classroom management strategies into the instructional program;
      Data collection focused on increasing program fidelity across all buildings;
      Observe district policies at all times;
      Serve as a liaison between the district, building, family, and community stakeholders;
      Analyze and monitor data in order to plan with district and building personnel to target nonacademic areas creating barriers to student success;
      Assist the district in reaching the expectations outlined in the Kansans CAN vision;
      Perform other duties as directed/requested by the Principal.
    Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
    Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-pace, high-intensive work environment.
