Salinas Valley Health is Hiring an Infusion Center Medical Assistant - Certified Near Salinas, CA

Department: Outpatient Infusion Works under the supervision of the Outpatient Infusion Nurse Manager and Director of Critical Care. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the department. Performs various clinical and office duties to include routine patient care and clerical functions not limited to taking vital signs, administering approved medications, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, cleaning of equipment, maintaining infusion rooms/bays, assist in answering telephones, data collection, or word processing. Assists with the efficient flow of patients through departments while focusing on the delivery of quality care. Performance is not limited to manipulating logistics, assisting with the ambulation of patients, or basic patient prep. Promotes and supports a positive work environment by exercising productive communication. Performs other duties as assigned to support interdepartmental collaboration. Performs any combination of the following duties depending on the area of assignment. Greets and escorts patients to infusion rooms/bays for service. Records patient vital signs, weight and changes in medical history prior to treatment, ensuring medication reconciliation is up to date. Clean and prepares infusion rooms/bays prior to each patient visit. Assists with tasks such as answering phones, greeting and accepting patients for service. Assists with the Nurse Manager and staff in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for supplies/equipment as needed. Administering approved medications per physician orders. Performs blood draws, dressing changes as appropriate. Provides patient with general procedure information/instructions, refers to clinical RN staff appropriately. Answers telephone in a professional manner and addresses or directs the call to the appropriate person. Collaborates with pharmacy within the infusion center. If appropriate, provides clinical staff with feedback regarding the patient’s ability to ambulate. Ensure patient flow continues within the infusion center. Collaborates with RN staff, licensed practitioner, clerical staff and pharmacy staff. Assumes active role in continuous quality improvement processes. Uses appropriate communication and teamwork skills when working with patients and staff. Supports and promotes a positive inter-departmental work environment. Assist with patient flow to include ambulation of patient or assisting patient with un/dressing. Assists with the collection or organization of data for process improvements as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program from an accredited school required. Licensure: Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) License from the State of California required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required. New hires and transfers have up to 6 months from date of hire/transfer to obtain BLS/Healthcare Provider certification and must remain continually current. Experience: A minimum of one (1) year Medical Assistant experience required. A minimum of one (1) year Phlebotomy experience required. Must have successfully completed the Medication Administration Test administered by SVH. The hourly rate for this position is $31.95 - $35.24. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
