Salm Partners is Hiring a Production Planner Near Denmark, WI

Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Plan and manage production schedules by production line and production area based on forecast demand
  • Create and communicate weekly production schedules for Operations and Blending, reviewing, and adjusting daily as necessary to maximize system efficiencies
  • Enter all production orders into the Sage MAS 500 system
  • Collaborate with procurement on material deliveries and product shelf life
  • Purchase in accordance with production/finished product requirements and maintain sufficient inventory of materials from outside vendors to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Provide tactical support in the sourcing, purchasing, and distributing of raw materials, components, services and supplies for all Salm Partners facilities
  • Review acknowledgements with purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies with the supplier
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Customer Service team on order dates and production timing
  • Utilize MRP software to monitor inventory for managed parts/commodities and determine material needs
  • Support the Master planner, procurement, and customer service roles as applicable
  • Attend daily drumbeat meetings & facilitate production scheduling meetings with the plant
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comply with SQF requirement and ensure departmental compliance with all safety rules and regulations per established company policies.
  • Support the Lean Manufacturing initiatives of the company.
  • Perform all other duties and train new partners as assigned.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have demonstrated honesty, integrity, and a collaborative approach to leading teams. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and with changing environmental conditions. Requires the ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be highly motivated and be able to work independently. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of an associate’s degree in Materials Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field is preferred. A minimum of 3 years planning experience is required, preferably in a USDA-perishable regulated food-manufacturing environment. Experience with lot tracking and traceability preferred.

Communication Skills

Must possess excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Must have professional telephone etiquette. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as spreadsheets, bills of lading, purchase orders, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to interface effectively with outside vendors and customers and must be able to train users with inventory system modules.

Computer Skills

Must have strong computer proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet. Previous experience with MAS 500 or related integrated manufacturing software MRP or ERP system is preferred.

Mathematical Skills

Must have strong basic math skills.

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. Must possess strong trouble shooting skills and exhibit strong judgment and decision-making skills.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the partner is frequently required to sit for extended periods; walk; sit and talk or hear. The partner is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, with repetitive motions of hands, arms, and shoulders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The Production Planner will work primarily in an office environment but will frequently be required to be present in the production areas of the company. There is a wide variation of temperatures ranging from 35° F to 100° F in the various production work areas. The production work environment is wet and slippery most of the time, and the noise level in the production work environment is usually loud. Partners are required to wear frocks, hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear, and hairnets always on the production floor.
