Job Description

Clinical Pharmacy Services (Psychiatric)

This position is responsible for overseeing general Clinical Pharmacy Services. This person will exhibit leadership to unify and maintain high-quality clinical pharmacy services throughout the Salud system. This person will be responsible for analyzing the metrics of the clinical pharmacy team to ensure the team is functioning to its highest capacity. This position will also provide some direct patient care within a multidisciplinary model, including care under collaborative drug therapy management protocols. Clinical pharmacy services at Salud are model sites for pharmacy student and pharmacy resident training and afford opportunities for scholarly work. This position will work closely with the Director of Behavioral Health Pharmacy Services. Approaches his/her tasks in a team-based care fashion that supports patients and their families in self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change.

  • Starting annual pay range is $132,103 to $151,918 
  • Monday to Friday – 8 am to 5 pm

Supervision Exercised:

This position exercises oversight of Salud’s general Clinical Pharmacists, supporting and encouraging them to work to the top of their licenses. This position exercises supervision over pharmacy students and residents as assigned.

Specific Duties:

  • Oversee general clinical pharmacy services with staff and manage reporting of outcomes.
  • Review protocols and CDTM agreements annually with the Chief Medical Officer for changes/approval in accordance with state laws
  • Ensure clinical pharmacy services are in compliance with current Salud practices for managing students and residents
  • Participate in Salud committees as assigned
  • Participate in the Peer Review Committee, or delegate a team member to be the pharmacy representative
  • Ensure clinical pharmacy services and individual team members are performing effectively, at the top of their licenses.
  • Meet with outside clinical pharmacists, EMR staff, and other community committees to improve patient care.
  • Create written workflows, guidelines, manuals, and protocols for Salud related to the proper use of medications.
  • Provide leadership for developing and implementing medication use policy protocols and guidelines.
  • Engage in providing ambulatory clinical care services.
  • Provide quality experiential teaching services including precepting student Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs), evaluating student performance using various assessment methods, mentoring and advising students. Supervising the clinical activities of pharmacy residents is expected.
  • Work in conjunction with Medical Providers, Dental providers, Behavioral Health Providers, and all other staff to ensure that patients obtain the highest standard of integrated health care.
  • Coordinate closely and as needed with the Director of Behavioral Health Pharmacy Services.
  • Act as a patient advocate for our vulnerable populations by ensuring that patients are fully informed and comfortable with their visit to Salud.
  • Follow the procedures for the electronic health records system.
  • Limited participation in professional service activities such as university or school committee work, participation in professional organizations, and attendance at seminars, conferences, special courses, and scientific meetings.
  • Instruct interns, students, and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy.
  • Attend and participate in other activities conducted by Salud (i.e., staff training, educational sessions, meetings, etc.).
  • Help to ensure compliance of all federal and state, rules and regulations.
  • Follows procedures for the electronic health records system
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.

Qualifications

Education:

Pharm.D. degree and advanced training, preferably through a PGY2 residency or similar experience in ambulatory care pharmacy. Candidates should have obtained board certification in ambulatory care, or successfully complete board certification within one year of hire.

Experience:

Previous clinical and management experience is strongly preferred.

Licensure:

Possess a license to practice pharmacy in good standing in the State of Colorado, or be eligible for Colorado licensure.
