Salus University is seeking a skilled professional to fill the part-time, temporary (12 months, Tuesday mornings 2-4 hours a week) position of ISEE Lay Screener. Lay Screener has been defined as a person who is not a healthcare provider yet has the dedication and interest to participate in the vision screening of school age children.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience working with school-age children
• Good communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to read and follow instructions, copy, and record names and numbers
• Ability to travel to clinical site
• Dependable, punctual, good attendance record
• High School diploma or GED
• Enjoys working with children
• Comfortable learning new technology

Exclusion Criteria:

• Doctor of Optometry, Medicine or Osteopathy

ISEE Lay Screener Requirements for Certification:

• Review and maintain a thorough understanding of each ISEE vision screening procedure and any associated video(s)
• Complete form documentation training
• Demonstrated ability to perform screening tests on children
• Submission of a minimum of 3 or 4 (TBD) screening forms for each screening test on a minimum of 3 or 4 (TBD) children
• Completion of the ISEE General Knowledge Assessment
• Completion of lay screener-specific Knowledge Assessment for each screening session
• Documentation of up-to-date completion of human subject and Good Clinical Practice training
• Certification in CPR for children is recommended, but not required
• Completion of site-specific requirements (e.g. background check)

Hourly Rate: $30 an hour
