The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and measuring the college's marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. The Director serves as a key strategic advisor to college leadership & departments and collaborates to support College initiatives.Essential Functions
Develops and implements long-term strategic marketing, public relations, and branding campaigns that drive student enrollment, retention, and community awareness.Responsible for evaluating and reporting on goals and long-range marketing strategies.Works to increase Sandhills Community College's presence by partnering with executive leadership, internal and external stakeholders, and students.Oversees Community Relations strategies that advance the College's goals with key external constituents.Oversees the development and editing of various publications, including news releases, feature articles, news stories, reports, and other communications that highlight the achievements of the College, its students, alumni and staff for dissemination to print and broadcast media sources, social media and web-based sources, the general public, and specialized target groups.Oversees the development of collateral materials for student recruitment and community engagement.Directs the development and maintenance of the college website.Oversees staff management, which encompasses establishing & fostering a cohesive marketing team,, task assignment and prioritization, goal setting for both personal and professional development, fostering the growth of all team members, ensuring thorough staff training, and enforcing adherence to marketing policies and procedures.Develops and manages a marketing budget in alignment with the College's mission, strategic plan, values, and priorities.Directs, coordinates, and procures mass media advertising, including radio, television, newspaper, magazines, social media networks, podcasts, and websites for maximum return on investment of time and resources.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or similar field.Preference to Master's degree in marketing or related field.Five or more years working in a marketing or communications role.Demonstrated expertise in managing and developing marketing strategies, including drafting written and oral communications, social media, and digital marketing.Knowledge and experience with print production, direct mail, video, digital media, photography, social media, and web.Ability to produce advanced marketing and communications strategies that elevate the presence and quality of Sandhills Community College.Highly developed collaboration, relationship, and consultative skills.Ability to function in a leadership capacity and as part of a management team.Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
