Head Custodian II | GENERAL INFORMATION | Title: Head Custodian II | Department: Facilities & Maintenance | Salary Grade: Schedule CFLSA Status: Non-exempt | Site/Location: Sandusky Middle School | Reports to: Building Administrator | Date: 06/17/2024 | POSITION SUMMARY | Success candidate must be capable of working reliably and independently to carry out assigned tasks and work schedules. This position is designated as Essential Personnel, which requires that employees report to their assigned job site during emergency situations, such as snow, inclement weather, or other emergency situations as deemed by the Superintendent. May be on call for emergency situations, including weather and other building emergencies. | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS | - Candidates must understand and carry out both written and oral instructions.
- Maintain work schedules in the performance of cleaning tasks.
- Read or recognize cleaning chemical labels.
- Properly select, mix and apply cleaning agents appropriate to the task. Maintain cooperative working relationships and harmony within the workplace.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move items during certain tasks: sweeping, mopping (dust/wet), dusting, scrubbing, buffing and reviving assigned schools floors.
- Windows inside/outside cleaned as needed during the school year
- Performs daily floor care during school year per schedule provided from Supervisor for Environmental Services.
- Performs annual refinish of all hall, offices, libraries, clinics and gymnasiums hard surface flooring (i.e.: VCT, Terrazzo, Marble) for cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to operate various cleaning equipment (i.e.: ride on scrubbers, walk behind scrubbers, propane burnishes, buffers) appropriate to the task
- Performs cleaning, restocking and disinfecting of all hall, offices, libraries, clinics and gymnasiums restrooms as assigned areas for cleanliness and safety.
- Picks up paper and other debris around the outside / inside building daily, empties and cleans trash receptacles as needed during the day.
- Coordinates any setups, additional custodial support, functions per school calendar with the Supervisor for Environmental Services weekly.
- Other duties as assigned by either Building Administrator and/or Supervisor for Environmental Services

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE | - Candidate must have at least two years experience in the custodial field and 1 year supervisory experience.
| KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES | - Understands and carries out out both written and oral instructions.
- Reads or recognizes cleaning chemical labels.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling,crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
- Designated as Essential Personnel - Employees must report to assigned job siteduring emergency situations including weather and building emergencies.
