Job Purpose

Test, troubleshoot and repair electronic, electro-mechanical and/or mechanical devices to component or sub-assembly level.

Nature of Duties

  • Apply acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Work on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.
  • Use systems and test fixtures to determine PCBA and assembly functionality.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, calibration, and testing of electronic assemblies, instruments and mechanical assemblies at the lower or component level.
  • Must be able to read and interpret work instructions, schematics, drawings and Engineering Change Orders.
  • Ability to use standard measurement and test equipments such as: digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and power sources.
  • Enters the repair finding into information data collections systems.
  • Complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing.
  • Participate in the continuous Improvement Quality process (i.e. Lean Mfg, Six Sigma, ISO 13485
  • Effectively use verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accomplish associated tasks within the organization (facility maintenance, project team members, strip salvage, etc.).
  • May be called upon to begin training of Repair Technicians I & II.

Education & Skills

  • Associates in Applied Science in Electronic or Computer Engineering or military/technical school equivalent or 6 years of related experience.
  • Able to use data collection software to input and analyze information gathered during repairs.
  • Able to work in a team environment toward the goals set forth by supervisors/managers.
  • Must have substantial understanding of the job and apply that knowledge and skill in a wide range of tasks
  • Can work with minimal instruction on daily tasks and requires only general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
  • Able to successfully read and interpret work instructions, schematics, drawings and Engineering Change Orders.
  • Able to use necessary equipment to perform rework on defective components.
  • Physically able to work with heavy equipment (sometimes in excess of 50 lbs.)

Repair Technician: Performs in-house servicing and repair of company products at established company repair site or service center. Diagnoses mechanical, hardware, software and systems failures using established procedures. Performs maintenance, testing and calibration of repaired products. Prepares reports for analysis of product failure trends and service ability issues. May communicate with field-based technicians for details helpful to failure diagnostics or repair, but generally without direct client contact.
