  • POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Assistant Coach/Manager of Operations. Women’s Basketball is responsible for all aspects of running a Division I Women’s Basketball program including, but not limited to: day-to-day administrative operations, travel arrangements, liaison to department units and limited assistant coaching duties.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct day to day operations regarding the women’s basketball program. (15%)
  • Supervise, train and evaluate student managers.
  • Communicate with the members of the athletic department to ensure that the women’s basketball staff is up-to-date and aware of the latest information as needed.
  • Responsible for communications with the compliance office. Compile countable hours’ time sheets and complete all necessary forms for official and unofficial visits and any additional forms as directed for NCAA compliance purposes.
  • Determine practice times and notify appropriate parties.
  • Direct the home and away ticket allocation procedure. Distribute and manage home and away ticket lists. Work with Athletic Department Ticket Office to manage ticket usage and distribution.
  • Represent Head Coach in meetings when required.
  • Coordinate competition schedule with appropriate parties.
  • Direct travel arrangements for the Women’s Basketball program. (10%)
  • Evaluate travel options for the program and determine most efficient and effective travel for the program.
  • Serve as point person for travel arrangements for the Women’s Basketball program.
  • Determine the appropriate travel needs to ensure adequate preparation for each trip.
  • Determine away practice times at opponent’s facility, pre and post competition locker room accommodations when required.
  • Determine all team meals.
  • Travel with the team when necessary to assist with transportation, arrange and prepare all meals as needed.
  • Fulfill NCAA allowed sport-specific tasks. (10%)
  • Attend all trainings and home and away matches as directed by the head coach.
  • Evening and weekend work required.
  • Observe practices and games and track relevant statistics as directed by the head coach.
  • Compile and present statistics to coaching staff as requested.
  • Assist in supervising student managers and their responsibilities.
  • Serve as liaison between the Women’s Basketball Coach and the other administrative units. (10%)
  • Work with the Athletic Department staff to liaison with the University housing office and dining services.
  • Work with other administrative units on campus to effectively manage the operations of the Women’s Basketball program.
  • Direct equipment and facility operations. (10%)
  • Work with Athletics Facilities Department to determine visiting team practice times. Greet visiting team at practice.
  • Coordinate the cleaning and storage of team uniforms and equipment.
  • Ordering necessary training equipment while working within the parameters of the designated budget.
  • Take down and set up hoops, when appropriate.
  • Supervise student managers
  • Fulfill general administrative tasks. (10%)
  • Perform general administrative and/or clerical tasks at the direction of the Head Coach and coaching staff.
  • Complete appropriate expense report for members of the coaching staff.
  • Work with members of the Athletic Department to complete any routine forms or gather information as needed.
  • Liaison to department External Services Team. (10%)
  • Maintain active communication with community constituencies.
  • Assist development team directed women’s basketball fundraising, alumni or special events.
  • Liaison to external team with any external outreach.
  • Coach, organize and direct community men’s basketball clinics and camps.
  • Assist the media relations staff with the scheduling and coordination of various media requests for the program.
  • Assist the marketing staff with the scheduling and coordination marketing requests.
  • Represent women’s basketball in external services season weekly meetings.
  • Display commitment to the academic success of student-athletes. (2%)
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with Academic Support Services staff.
  • Assist, and/or monitor study hall programs.
  • Abide by all Conference, Department and NCAA regulations and assist to ensure departmental compliance. (2%)
  • Attend all compliance seminars and reviews.
  • Maintain current CPR certifications.
  • Coaching Duties (15%)
  • Assist Head Coach with on-court coaching during team practice, games, and individual and small group training.
  • Assist Head Coach with on-campus recruiting only.
  • Other Duties as Assigned. (5%)
  • PROVIDES WORK DIRECTION
  • Supervise, train and evaluate student managers.
  • GENERAL GUIDELINES
  • Models the office culture guidelines of the Department of Athletics.
  • Is aware of and abides by all NCAA, WCC and other applicable rules and regulations.
  • Sets a positive example of behavior for students and the Santa Clara University community.
  • Represents Santa Clara University in the community.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Years of Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of basketball experience at the collegiate or post-collegiate level (playing, coaching or other relevant basketball experience) preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years video editing experience preferred.
