Administration / Management Responsibilities:
Maintain all children’s classroom records in an up-to-date accurate and appropriate manner.
Conduct classroom programs in compliance with department policies and procedures following all state and federal laws and regulations.
Keep the lead teacher and director informed of incidents, problems and occurrences with staff, children, parents, and program.
Complete assignments in a timely, organized, neat and accurate manner.
Attend and participate in regular in-service trainings for staff.
Assist with the front desk when needed, answering phones, greeting parents and addressing center needs.
Facility Management:
Advise Child Development Director of necessary equipment repair and general maintenance needs
Follow daily opening and / or closing procedures.
Maintain work area in an organized and appropriate manner.
Insure that classroom and program activity areas are kept in an organized and tidy manner.
Program Planning, Development, and Evaluation:
Follow the project-based learning model by conducting a goal-oriented and themed curriculum.
Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all program participants.
Employ consistent methods of child behavior management and work with all staff to maintain consistent and fair discipline techniques.
Give attention to and solve day-to-day “crisis” that occur in the program.
Address parent and program participant concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Supervise and assist children with meal and snack time.
Supervise and assist children with toileting and personal care needs.
Supervise nap/quiet time for children.
Follow YMCA work rules and procedures to complete all assigned tasks and duties efficiently, timely, and positively.
Model non-sexist and non-racist behavior.
Be cooperative, accessible, and an active member of the YMCA staff.
Be punctual and responsible to assigned schedule and not abuse staff privileges.
SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT:
CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications must be current.
In-house/Online Sexual Harassment, Child Abuse Prevention, Mandated Reporter, Safety Training, & other assigned courses must be completed within the first 30 days of employment.
Absolutely no contact with students or program participants outside of the YMCA either in person, via social media, text, online, etc. Babysitting or caring for children who are enrolled or were enrolled in the program is prohibited. Any outside contact with current or former enrollees of the program will result in immediate termination.
Employees should know that all information published on a blog or public website is publicly accessible. You are advised to be mindful that members of the Santa Monica Family YMCA community will likely see the information you post on the internet , which could reflect poorly on your character. Therefore, information posted on public websites that reflects poor character values is putting your job at risk.
Employees may not wear headphones or earbuds while on duty.
Employees may only use their cell phones when off duty or for emergencies.
Employees may not take pictures or post pictures of students or program participants on any form of social media without the consent of the parent/guardian and the YMCA Administration.
Employees may not accept financial or cash gifts or payments from parents or guardians.
