Santander US is Hiring a Director, Financial Planning & Analysis Near Boston, MA

The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for the creation and ongoing management of FP&A projects, processes, and tools to support the FP&A functionality. Conducts financial and economic analysis and forecasting and evaluates alternate financial plans. Prepares, analyzes, interprets and maintains internal and external information related to economic policy, rates of return, depreciation, investments and operational and financial results. This role will be a leader and trusted advisor to the Commercial business. This role requires financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting of all components of the business line balance sheets and income statements. The ability to identify key business trends and develop strategies to drive profitability are important criteria for this position. The candidate will manage and develop a team of direct reports.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Sources and analyzes key data for the execution of ad hoc analytical projects aimed at understanding and improving the Company's profitability.
  • Preparation of financial /profitability analysis, strategic reviews, pro forma modeling, and delivers well-analyzed financial forecasts to support the business strategic direction and plan.
  • Conducts research and analysis to provide executive management with support and advice for their use in setting and realizing profit objectives. Detail oriented with ability to research, organize, and analyze financial data.
  • Leads development of presentations, executive summaries, and ad-hoc analysis for executive management to support development of strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Builds relationships with business line and functional leaders to support strategy development as well goaling for portfolio growth and new business production/ pricing.
  • Enhances the financial understanding of business lines, products and segments to aid reporting, forecasting and business decision making.
  • Leads comprehensive analysis of Commercial expense allocations and book of work projects.

  • Bachelor's Degree; Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or equivalent field.
  • Master's Degree; Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics or equivalent field equivalent work experience
  • 12 years’ experience in Accounting, FP&A within the financial/banking industry or similar field.
  • Understanding of bank balance sheet management and capital requirements, and knowledge of financial analysis and valuation concepts.
  • Experience with financial forecasting and sensitivity analysis
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data that is visually appealing and effectively tells a clear story.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex financial transactions and strategies.
  • Ability to focus on details while understanding the big picture; prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Experience making presentations to senior leadership and the ability to explain concepts and outline strategies clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to lead a team of financial analysts / FP&A professionals.
  • CFA designation not required, but a bonus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated financial modeling knowledge and strong analytical, qualitative, and problem-solving skills.
Skills And AbilitiesProficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
Ability to effectively interact with the market, executive management and vendors.
Ability to adapt and adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities.
Ability to work effectively across multifunctional teams.
Detail oriented with ability to research, organize and analyze financial data.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Working ConditionsFrequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
