The Observability team at SAP Ariba develops and implements solutions that provide insight into the availability, performance, and reliability of SAP Ariba Cloud applications. We build new ways to visualize data to make it easier to observe the state of our platform and applications enabling engineering teams to diagnose and respond quickly to issues. A key objective is to develop tools and processes that identify, predict, and prevent issues before they impact our customers.

In this role you will:

• Research, design, develop, and deliver new technologies and tools to provide insight and improve the availability, observability, and operational efficiency for SAP Ariba's hybrid and multi-cloud platform
• Build next generation monitoring solutions for SAP Ariba’s commerce cloud
• Research, prototype and implement new technologies in the area of AI and Machine Learning for anomaly detection and predictive alerting using deployed Observability solutions

• Work with cross-functional teams across Ariba Engineering to develop new and improve existing software solutions to support critical business outcomes
• Promote proven practices around observability, instrumentation, and monitoring
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support observability tools
• Help support Ariba’s legacy monitoring platform built on Perl
• Work as part of an agile team

Development work may involve use of various tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, Perl, Python, Shell scripting, Unix, SNMP, and Jenkins.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related technical discipline
• 5 years of experience in software development, engineering role, product/technical support, or Ariba consulting experience
• Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace or similar tools building queries, dashboards, and alerts
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with hyperscalers (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure)
• Experience working with Cloud-based Solutions or Web-based Enterprise Application Architecture/Infrastructure
• Experience with Perl, Python, Linux, Git, Jenkins, scripting languages, SNMP, SALT stack/Ansible, Terraform
• Working knowledge of Ariba products is a plus
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
