Key Responsibilities
  • Directly supervising our 17 General Managers who operate the Travel Centers.
  • Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization’s operations division.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership, other divisions, and departments to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operational projects and systems.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities, are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
  • Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Oversees and manages the “Walk the Store program”.
  • Champions and coaches locations on five star customer service.
  • Establishes and administers the department’s budget.
  • Partners with Human Resource Manager and Travel Center President regarding performance trends and retention within the division.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
  • Engages and inspires location leaders in operational leadership skills, including being a driver of process and culture changes
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and project staffing requirements .
  • Analyzes reporting, financials, and sales and drives changes needed to remain competitive in all areas.

Candidates Should Demonstrate
  • A track record of crafting and communicating strategic directions for operational divisions in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ability to identify, recommend, and implement innovative processes, technologies, and systems to enhance organizational operations.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with experience working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to achieve company objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions and develop project plans that align with the organization’s business strategy.
  • Experience developing, communicating, and enforcing operations-related policies, standards, and security measures to ensure effective execution.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the implementation of operational processes across multiple locations, ensuring efficiency and consistency.
  • Commitment to promoting customer service excellence and coaching location leaders to deliver exceptional experiences.
  • Financial acumen, with experience in establishing and overseeing departmental budgets to ensure efficiency and accountability.
  • A track record of building and managing high-performing teams, providing guidance, inspiration, and mentorship.
  • Proven ability to serve as the primary relationship manager, developing strong relationships with clients and team members while providing meaningful counsel and delivering valued results.
  • Precision focus with an acute attention to detail and responsiveness.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate ideas effectively to various stakeholders.
Compensation: The position offers a competitive base salary, with an annual bonus accompanying the base salary, based on business and individual performance.

  • Previous supervisory and leadership experience in a similar industry.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of industry-related experience, including 5 years in upper management.
  • Ability to serve as the primary relationship manager, including scheduling and completing in-person visits per quarter, engaging in continuous conversations and check-ins, and developing strong relationships with direct reports.
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time in this position; including local and overnight trips.
