How You Will Make Contributions That Matter...
  • Collaborates with the plant engineer, maintenance manager, and facility management to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Supervises electrical maintenance specialists and assists maintenance manager with capital projects for the site.
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Implements corrective actions identified by key maintenance performance indicators to create overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Remains current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to electrical systems design and operation.
  • Ensures corporate policies and standards are followed in both capital project implementation as well as daily maintenance.
  • Complete all paperwork including maintenance records, incident reports and investigations, and others as assigned by the maintenance manager. Maintain current technical documentation on PLCs, instrumentation, and equipment (PLC ladder logic, blueprints, manuals, SOPs, maintenance procedures, PMs, inventory/parts purchasing).
  • Shares “best practices” within the Maintenance Specialist and Maintenance Department.
  • Monitor and enforce policies, plant rules and programs with employees, contractors, vendors, consultants and suppliers (i.e. safety, food safety, regulatory, etc).
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating.
  • Provides management of employees directly to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action, and performance management. If a collective bargaining agreement exists, may participate in negotiations, grievances or other contract related activities and discussions.
  • Evaluate Maintenance Specialist skills and abilities and assist Manager with developing training programs for employees’ growth.
  • Adhere to the Saputo code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Design, document, and plan installation of equipment for control of equipment, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
  • Create PLC programming and establish a standard for the group to follow.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to trouble shoot HMI’s, PLC’s, SERVO devices, robotic automation, and AC/DC control systems a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems (Ignition) and ability to create or modify logic.
  • Perform a variety of electrical functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
  • Install or repair any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
  • Work from and create blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Locate and diagnose, repair of electrical system or equipment, sensors, transmitters, field devices, VFD’s, control devices and components.
  • Install and maintain data, Ethernet, and internet, CAT5 or equivalent cabling and components.
  • Work standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
  • Uses a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
  • Design, troubleshoot and evaluate electrical systems.
  • Demonstrate equipment functions and features to equipment operators.
  • Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Perform new system installations, replacements, new control technology upgrades.
  • Respond to production needs as they occur on the production floor.
  • Participates in the preventive and predictive maintenance programs for any plant electrical, electronic, and instrument equipment or control system.
  • Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Work professionally with co-workers and other department personnel.
  • Follow SQF, Company GMP, and 5S guidelines to produce a safe and quality product.
  • Adhere to the Saputo code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
You Are Best Suited For The Role If You Have The Following Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred and a minimum of five (5) years industrial maintenance experience within Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage industry is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a Kentucky State Certified electrician or have a 2-year college Electrical degree.
  • Cannot have any safety violations in the previous 12 months.
  • Cannot be on second written warning for disciplinary reasons, disciplinary suspension in the past 12 months, or have more than (4) attendance points (internal candidates only).
  • Ten or more years related experience in an industrial environment or 5 years related experience in food and beverage required.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have the ability to run conduit as directed and to the National Electric Code requirements.
  • Strong electrical background in addition to mechanical skills. Experience with computerized or automated controls and ability to read electric schematics a plus.
  • Self-motivated detail–oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to work any shift, including overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated work history.
  • Develop project requirements and design specifications.
  • Investigate and suggest architecture and technology enhancements.
  • Build and maintain a sustainable system for plant Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) technicians skill development.

Physical Demands. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job in a food manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, type, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl, visual acuity, talk or hear and taste or smell in a wet, cold, and/or humid environment. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a food manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and exposure to electrical equipment/systems. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is required in most areas of the facility. The use of a bump cap and eye protection is required.
Salary Range: $85,370 to 106,715
